Relocating to Gainesville for a new position at the University of Florida, where I do not know a soul.

ABOUT ME

I just spent the last year doing civil rights journalism after my home town (Charlottesville) was invaded by neo-Nazis. I've conducted investigations and covered riots and rallies around the US. I also wrote and produced a documentary film about August 12th. Prior to that, I wrote for Smithsonian Magazine, Slate, The Washington Post, etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm starting a new communications job at the University of Florida on September 24th and don't know anyone in Gainesville. I won't be in a position to rent a place until after my first paycheck shows up (a year of public interest civil rights journalism has left me pretty well skint) and I'm thinking that couch-surfing might be a good way to get to know some people in Gainesville while I'm finding my bearings and looking for a more long-term housing situation.
