About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To make friends in Montevideo Uruguay where I am currently living :)
ABOUT ME
well, the most important thing to know about me is that I love to cook- and to be cooked for- so please lets share my kitchen. I also always need to learn more things about everything- so please, talk to me about things I don't know! Although Theatre is my major, it probably isn't my major interest(I love to go to the theatre, but not to make theatre). I really like art, and childrens literature(any literature), food food food, and people! I love meeting new people and making new friends.I am currently living with my boyfriend in Uruguay, and I'm drinking lots of mate, and would love to share some with lots of new people! :)
PHILOSOPHY
Do everything in your power to be happy without compromising other peoples happiness.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
For the past many years my couch has been constantly full of international friends so I guess my couch was well surfed ever before I heard of this project.
This summer after Cali, I surfed with some of the most amazing people I have ever met, and made me really really love this project. It has really reinforced my faith in the the world, people and kindness, and has helped somewhat to at least dampen (though never fully erase!) my natural Irish cynicism!
I have had constant visitors since I've been home, some of them are part of the CS project, and some aren't, but I've been hosting, however you want to define it :)
I've hosteda lot less since I've been in Uruguay- unfortunately most of the requests I've received since I've gotten here have been really generic, or somewhat pervy :/
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Amazing so far! It is such a great way to meet new people and new places. The kindness I've experienced through CS makes me so happy, and the different things you discover about an area that you can't find in the Lonely Planet, and the people that you meet as a result have been so fun and exciting.
Interests
Many many things, em, food especially, and meeting people. people being a little odd, anyone who makes me laugh, hiking, mountains, sunsets, new experiences and people, literature, pretending to improve my french, actually improving my Spanish, (practising Irish- ojala!) travelling all over the world, brownies, baking, feeding people, family and spending time with my family, dance church (five rhythms), art, art museums, modern art, nights out dancing, and nights in with a movie, good company, jersey cotton sheets (like sleeping in a hug), hugs for that matter, and kisses, trying new things, food, brownies, chocolate, ICECREAM, walking and beautiful views (food for the soul), really passionate weather. warm evenigns where it rains, and you leave the window open and listen to the outside. young animals, sooo cute. thrifting, which is my favourite type of shopping. costumes, and any photo, film with amazing aesthetics! And now, Couchsurfing! ;) and mate- ahora soy CELESTE :) Orgulla Charrua :)

Music, Movies, and Books
The list is everchanging, but here are some constants, Harry Potter, and Baz Luhrmann movies, Abba, Blur best of, drum and bass, dancing stuff, Maniac 2000, or anything that reminds me of my youth. Currently Hozier, or any artist that through music convinces us to love one another and stop policing each others love activity. I have a thing for 80's music too, and any 80's dance movie. Probably any dance movie to be honest. My movie taste is growing though: (recently, as in the past few years, new loves are): Almodovar, Lars Von Trier, what I have seen by Thomas Vinterberg. John Michael McDonagh. Erika Lust (what I have seen). Probably any film that is powerful and about Ireland. If more come to mind I'll write htem in later.
Ok: reading. this is hard. I tend to flit around, and never stay on any one author for too long. Sylvia Plath, John Dunne, Shakespeare, a good distopic novel(not really YA distopia, though I like to ponder what it says about our society and the world). Jane Austen. NoubeSe Philip. Spoken word poetry (my current favourite is The Period Poem by Dominique Christina. I also loved 'Dear Cho Chang'- the list is too long. Tell you what- if you like spoken word, and we meet, we can youtube for hours and share) Some (not all) feminst theory and essays (Judith Butler, Sue Ellen Case would be big ones for me). Most coffee table books. Tim Walker photography books. George Orwell. Chaucer. Benedetti (what i have succeeded in reading). Benjamin Zephaniah. Anything that slams the patriarchy intelligently without pissing me off. So much, but like I said, I flit. Megga flitter.
In also love good TV :) Game of Thrones (obvs). Black Mirror. Sherlock. These are the shows I'm currently waiting for with bated breath.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
An amazing thing i have done is go and live in San Diego for a year. Then Uruguay for four. Land a teaching job- adore that teaching job. Have inspiring students. Another amazing thing i have seen is Vegas. It's not nice neccessarily, but it is fantastical, a world of it's own. Climbing to the top of a mountain, always quite the experience! Oh, i've been in side a glacier, and surfed with dolphins. that was pretty cool. I have also eaten Ben and Jerrys- nuff said! and now I live in Uruguay, and can speak SPANISH!!
Teach, Learn, Share
dia dhuit, is mise Anna, is how to say hello, my name is anna in Irish (a real language, no really, it is a real language! I can try and teach you what I remember from my schooling years!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can teach them rudimentary Irish. I can cook for them. I can show them how to make/feed them gooey butter cake. I would be delighted to laugh with them. I would also be delighted to converse with them- and debate topics, if it doesn't make either of us overly uncomfortable/aggravated. If it does- I can dance it out with you- just put on a jam I like
