About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To continue to explore these lands while entering a different phase of my life than when I signed up for Couchsurfing. My situation and some goals have changed since 2009, but I want to keep that fire of exploration alive and burning!

ABOUT ME now

I spend my time between many jobs and interests. Working in a wood shop building chicken coops and garden structures, house painting, fixing bicycles, event production, handymaning, making dinner with friends, going out for a nice beer, spending time in parks.

I have liked keeping my life very flexible and new. Just a few years ago I was touring around the country on bicycle living couch to couch. I was testing as many waters as I could. Not staying in one place for tooooo long. It was the most exciting time of my life and makes me tear up almost every time I think about it. I will forever recommend these kinds of adventures to anyone I meet.

I have gotten to the point now where I am ready to refine those interests. Become a better bike mechanic, a more skilled carpenter, start a business, build a home. Finding a balance between the carefree travel life and the developing, refining and mastering life has been a good challenge.

I want to dive deeper into interests while staying true to my first love of seeing and doing new things.

My family is the most important thing to me. They're the most badass crew I've ever known and although I live thousands of miles from some of them, nothing will ever split us up. I hope to go on big long adventures with all of them!

Old profile..for reference... -->

I really like orange juice with lots of pulp. I secretly am terrified of roaches. I never leave any food on my plate. I am a proficient juggler. I love working on bikes and riding them even more. I like early mornings but tend to miss them most of the time.

My favorite color is green because its the color of me and my moms eyes. i can spend hours in a record shop. I am intrigued by the high you get from eating spicy food.

I am a huge fan of awkward situations. I rarely eat breakfast. I have eaten ice cream, on pizza. i know the ultimate cure to hiccups.

PHILOSOPHY

a constant work in progress. honest, lighthearted, friendly, generous, open minded, creative, respectful, adventurous, interesting, worldly, original, and loving. all these i strive to be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love showing anyone around my city. It is nice to have someone take place of all the printed tourist pamphlets to see the real beauties of a city.

When someone in this CS community takes the time out of their schedule to show a complete stranger around, a genuinely friendly, social, natural, interaction is going on. I aim to help these interactions continue.

I currently have no couch to offer but I can offer a free day of fun and good conversations.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Very long story short...What happens when you ask a stranger in the middle of Victoria, BC if they know anyone who hosts couchsurfers and that would possibly let us stay for the night? Russell simply answers "I do". No questions asked, takes us in not as scary strangers but good friends. Turns out the be the most generous, trusting, interesting man in Victoria. Not bad for our first couchsurfing experience.

Interests

gardens, drinking beer and fixin bicycles in the garage, buying music, tossin tha disc, shooting pool, telling bad jokes, having conversations about random topics, saving the environment!, making plans, hiking and camping, reminiscing, finding new interests, bicycle touring!
