About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Bring Peace to the World, One Couch at a Time.
ABOUT ME
Got a dog so hope you like man's best friend. Here's what's going on: Two wonderful grown kids, ex-husband, lots of good friends, a garden that keeps me happy and sane, many interesting and satisfying careers throughout my lifetime, a garage crammed full of items I hope to share on Freecycle.org, house on a lake. Not working right now so I have lots of time to share the best of the Pacific Northwest with my visitors.
I've done a bit of traveling over the years and love to travel close to the ground.
PHILOSOPHY
I love to travel and consider myself a citizen ambassador. It's a kick to meet people who speak a language unlike mine only to learn we can communicate just fine. I enjoy discovering and rediscovering the humanity that is common to all of us. There is so much world to see and so many people to meet. I surround myself with good people, whether at home or on the road. Life is good.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
The possibilities of this organization are so exciting! I love to meet people, love to entertain, love to show off my community, etc. etc. Just returned from a month long trip to Mexico. Currently I'm home for a few months so am excited to get some surfers on my couch.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Backpackers meet the best people! Strangers who loan you money when your purse is stolen, locals you meet at the pub who invite you to stay at their house rather than rent a room, drivers who stop and say "hop in" for a lift to the next town. It all happens in a haphazard sort of way....liking the idea of an organized and predictable way to meet more beautiful people.
Interests
Hiking....Mt Rainier National Park is only an hour away. Cycling...got a bike I can loan
Cooking....just closed a tapas bar and still make my best recipes
Gardening.....hobby gardener but ready to take it to a higher level. Love it that the Obamas had a veggie garden at the Casa Blanca
Kayaking..got a couple of little swifties for use on the lake at my house
Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite reads include the cereal box (all 6 sides), hiking books, garden publications, novels, biographies and travel books. Currently I'm on a Spain binge...any book relating to Spain. Got a decent iTunes library with all sorts of music on it. Don't get around to seeing a lot of movies but particularly like our little film society here in Oly.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My life is FULL of amazing people and activities. A recent standout is a hike along the Lycian Way in Turkey: Walking through pine forests high above the Mediterranean Sea. Ending with an overnight at Butterfly Valley and a violent spring storm. The world is a beautiful place!
Teach, Learn, Share
Let's rustle up some good food using local produce, cheeses and items from the farmer's market. Sound good? I'm getting hungry.......
What I Can Share with Hosts
I just took up the ukulele and am happy to attempt any song out there. I can share the joy and sounds related to playing/learning a new (to me) musical instrument.
