PHILOSOPHY
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I would like to host surfers someday, but I live in a rooming house with no extra sleeping space, so it's not currently an option. The idea of Couch Surfing, not only a means of travel, but as a mindset of experiential learning through people, place and culture is extremely appealing to me. It brings the opportunity to break down mental and physical barriers that would normally impede one from broadening their understanding of the world.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I tried surfing in China with no luck, but had great experiences in Paris and Lyon. I got to hang out with my Paris host in Seattle on his visit to the West Coast! It was grand.
Interests
Cooking, eating foods of cultures around the world and experiencing food rituals, portraiture and editorial photography, filmmaking (cinematography, editing), contemporary and avant-garde dance, sewing, how natural and human-made landscapes affect us physically & psychologically.

Music, Movies, and Books
Some books I like: Perfume by Patrick Suskind, Breakfast of Champions/Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, Happiness by Matthieu Richard, any number of books by Joanna Macy, Shantaram by Gregory Roberts, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert Pirsig, Henely's Twentieth Century Formulas Processes and Trade Secrets, The Book of Five Rings by Miyamoto Musashi, E.L. Doctorow's novels.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Shared a quiet moment overlooking the Giant Buddha in Leshan, China with a Buddhist monk in the rain...who then gifted me his plaid green umbrella.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'll teach ya to cook! Knife skills, tricks of the trade, and which stations on Spotify get me into the groove and make cooking even more fun.
I can share ins and outs of shooting, developing, and printing traditional film photographs, and using Photoshop. How to use off-camera lighting.
I can teach you how to wrench on bicycles, and a bit on motorcycles.
What I Can Share with Hosts
My relaxed demeanor, travel stories, and good food!
