About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to travel the americas by bicycle, whilst supporting local food networks!

ABOUT ME

We are cycling from Vancouver to Buenos Aires trying to learn more about local food production, food webs and discovering pockets of hope along the way! We hope people 'grab a wheel' and join us for our journey south!

Nicholas:
I never really considered myself much of a cyclist, but all of the sudden I feel like I might just have a passion for it. I lived for the last 2 years (before starting this trip) in Fukui, Japan where I taught English at Norin High School. After spending time in Japan, buying a decent bike, joining in the BEE Ride, and having countless conversations with Emi about a ride of epic proportions; I rearranged my priorities a bit and committed myself to making this ride happen

Emi:
I've never been much for following the 'norm', but I never imagined I would find myself at the beginning of a year long cycling journey. What a wonderful opportunity: to travel and learn about my home continent using nothing but my body and the products of the land around me. I hope to dedicate my life to pursuing the understanding of life processes and the impact of my own daily decisions. I'm starting this by pointing my handlebars south, and hoping that you'll grab a wheel to join for the ride.

PHILOSOPHY

As a team we hope to cultivate a lifestyle that promotes sustainability- of physical natural resources, of emotional well being, of cross-cultural relationships. We hope to record and share the various highs and lows of committing to this type of lifestyle in hopes that it will inspire others to make small changes in their own personal lives. We hope to learn of the enormous spectrum of actions people are taking in their day to day to incorporate sustainability and connectivity to the earth into their lives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are hoping that couchsurfing will be a great network for us to connect with people throughout our journey. We are looking for community contacts that will introduce us to the local food web, and help us network with the awesome exciting initiatives that are happening throughout the Americas!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Both of us have couchsurf-ed whilst on individual bike trips, and random travels. Neither of us have had even a mildly displeasing experience!
We both have individual couchsurfing profiles, although I don't know how to attach that info here!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

we're too busy looking forward at this point to be reminiscing on beautiful past moments!

Teach, Learn, Share

Our passion for learning is what brought us here, although I suppose both of us have some skills to share!

Both: basic bike troubleshooting! (at least i hope we have this skill!)

Nicholas:

Emi: I've just completed a PDC course and would LOVE to talk about permaculture design; love to cook and always enjoy a good recipe exchange; ways to tie a sarong...
