About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm a musician spending my summer touring the US on a Greyhound bus

ABOUT ME

I love to travel! More accurately, I feel more like myself when I'm traveling. It feels normal. Being home feels more like a vacation. I generally travel alone. I really enjoy meeting people when I travel from city to city. I'm more introverted than extroverted, but spend so much time alone on the road that meeting someone new in every place keeps me balanced. I greatly respect honesty and try to embody it.

PHILOSOPHY

In general, I've discovered that the most beneficial way for me to live life is to attempt to love myself and others in every thought and action. I've found nothing more satisfying. Though, what is love? It's difficult to know that in every situation and I think the beautiful process of life is learning from mistakes; forgiving yourself and others. More specifically, I believe we all have passions and talents and are most happy and effective when we seek to fulfill these. I think the world goes around a bit more smoothly when everyone is striving to do what makes them come alive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Just joined mid June 2009. I'm interested in couch surfing during a few breaks in my summer tour.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well, haven't done any sanctioned couch surfing yet, but commonly sleep on couches of kind strangers while I'm on tour. I've always found it to be a comfort and a refreshing break from the road.

Interests

I spend a lot of time playing music. I'm a singer/songwriter and write primarily on acoustic guitar. I cherish my friends back home in Indianapolis and take great delight in good conversation with them, perhaps, over a good beer. Like many, I love to travel and I'm excited to wake up in a new city everyday.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Requiem for a Dream, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Off the Map, Into the Wild, Pleasantville, Green Mile, Shawshank Redemption, pretty much anything involving Robin Williams, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Kate Winslet, or Charlie Kaufman.

Music: Ben Harper, Ryan Adams, Counting Crows, Bright Eyes, Conor Oberst, Dave Matthews Band, Sigur Ros, Tom Waits, Cameron McGill, Ben Folds, and the music my friends make.

Books: Something I love doing, but rarely take the time to do. I'm currently working on "A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man" and "Walden". W.S. Burroughs and the transcendentalists interest me. I read a great book about introspective act of reading called "Walking the Literary Labyrinth".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hiked to the bottom of the Grand Canyon and back to the top in one day. and it did take a FULL day. Absolutely the most physically strenuous thing I've done. One of the most beautiful and rewarding experiences. And I shared it with two great friends :-)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some guitar chords, beginner tricks, etc.
