About Me

CURRENT MISSION

We are backpacking across america from New York to Seattle by any means necessary, and seeing all we can on the way.

ABOUT ME

Mark just got out of the army and is taking this transition period to explore new places. When Jon heard bout the trip he was like "No way! I'll totally go with you. We have never hitchhiked before, so it's a bit explorative, but we are born to have adventures, so everything will end up just great.
Mark currently lives on a couch in Portland, Or. and Jon lives in Roseville, Ca. We're starting the journey in New York at the end of June to begin this sweet adventure.
Feel free to scope us out/befriend us on Facebook as well:

PHILOSOPHY

Have as much fun and as many stories to tell as your life will allow.
Also, it is better to be seen wearing an all-denim attire, than it is to be seen wearing all white.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We just found out about CS, and we've ben surfing couches for the first time throughout this month of July. But after our adventure is over, we hope to have couches for you to sleep on to pay forward the favors.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We've been known to crash on a fair number of couches in our lives, including some that are far too small for someone who has both legs and a torso. I've woken up in a trailer I didn't recognize on a couch, with a strange old man on the other couch who had no questions about why I was there. I think my favorite couch that I've ever slept on was at the Forest Hill Lodge in CA. The basement parlor has the most comfortable couch I ever slept on; I could've saved on a room if I knew ahead.

Interests

We love traveling, camping, rock climbing, dance parties, new friends, eating new foods, high fives, wildlife t-shirts, bicycles, mopeds, cool jackets and dodgeball. We are not interested in vests of any sort.

Music, Movies, and Books

We're into all kinds of music, mostly underground rock/indie, but anything that makes our ears dance is good. Mark is writing this and I have over 400 movies from all different genres some of my favorites are the Life Aquatic, Pineapple Express, American Psycho, Karate Kid, over the top, and almost anything by Stanley Kubrick. My favorite author is Kurt Vonnegut.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Mark climbed to the top of half dome in Yosemite national park. I still remember how awesome being at the top was.
I've been shot at over 100 times, hit 3 roadside bombs, and had a disk in my neck replaced with metal disk, so I'm almost a cyborg.
Jon lived in a condemned building for a couple months. His stuff got stolen, so that part sucked.

Teach, Learn, Share

By the end of this trip we hope to have learned much about survival and travel with minimal resources, I don't know anything specific we could teach, but we definitely like to share and hear opinions on all subjects.
This will be a great opportunity to expand our comfort zones and communications and networking skills. I look forward to learning from the results of our efforts.
Be sure to ask Mark how to efficiently pack your luggage. Trust me!
