About Me

Update - July 25, 2018
A local who is trying to give back to the CS community! I have most of my mornings available so might be able to show you around if you're a early bird! My home is a bit remote from city center but I might be able to give you a lift if you can bear my challenging driving skills! Drop me a text if you need tips or a emergent couch I will try my best.:)

Hey! Welcome to Changsha! I am currently working and on a process of reconnecting to my hometown. I am here to try my best to host and give back to the CS community. :)
Update - May 5, 2017

I am busy traveling Sri Lanka but I'd like to take some time to respond to two negative reviews I had.

Jonathan from Jaffna, Sri Lanka

1. The reason why I had three profiles is because I keep forgetting my passwords and I started using CS since 2009 all through my student life. I brought it up only because my host Jon was extremely passionate to find out if I had given back to the community. Yes, I did, mainly in Canada, even when I was renting with a Canadian family and once I even gave up my bed to sleep on the floor.

2. I do appreciate how serious he took CS, but I don't agree with his insistence of expecting everyone act the same way. I do embrace the idea of sharing that's why after 8 years I am still on this site, however, I also accept that sometimes give and take may not happen exactly with the same amount to the same people. The best example would be if Jonathan happens to travel China in the future, I will try my best to return the hospitality by hosting him, however, if he never comes, I will either pass that kindness to other surfers or help Jon with some work while I am traveling there. I really have no other way to explain if anyone doubt this after meeting me in person. I try not to expect others to pay back when I am on this site, I believe that will make my happier and it's my way working on my karma.

3. I am trying to be open-minded, even he was trying to calculate returns for every thing he has offered, I still appreciate his kindness and I felt bad that because of circumstances I felt so stressed out that I could not help much in the way he expected.

4. I am Chinese and I love China. However, that's not the only thing I always talk about. I see culture as something beyond the definition of countries and races. Instead, I believe it's the ideas and values I choose to be associated with. Therefore, I see the courage we take to stand up for sexual harassment in a foreign country as part of my culture, I see the positivity and faith in locals we held on in difficult times as part of my cultures, I see being willing to walk out comfort zone constantly to be able to live consciously as part of my cultures. So please at least try to understand for me, culture is more than chopsticks, Chinese noodles and the Great Wall. However, if you do curious about Chinese food, lifestyle and politics, please don't hesitate to ask me. I'd also love to share my insights as a local.

5. I'm sorry that I cannot stay in touch with each of my hosts. Even if I am not traveling, I won't have that much time and energy for texting and calling. I prefer to live in a real life and enjoy the presence of my hosts when meet in person again, so I encourage all my hosts to visit me in China. For some cases, I simply just don't want to stay in touch. I feel my energy get sucked by communicating with people who are too demanding, judgmental and narrow-minded. So I stay away.

Alex from Ella, Sri Lanka

As he has been reported by several surfers (mostly female that I know of), I will leave you to figure out what had happened to him as I am tired of to thinking about it. I can explain in person if you're really that curious to know the details.
