ABOUT ME

Hi I am Matthias,
I have been introduced to Couchsurfing by my friend Cory. I try to be a nice and responsible fellow. I try to be funny too and it sometimes seems to work out. Hehe.

I am an economist but I have never worked as one. To my own surprise I used to work in Organic Agriculture and now work in Forestry in the NGO / Not-For-Profit sector. I am vegetarian and I love Yoga, though I do not do the latter as often as I wished. I enjoy reading too (mainly novels). I have been lucky to get to know a bit of the world, mainly because of my job but I have had some nice vacations too. I used to do Mountain Biking but have given this up after a series of smaller and bigger accidents.

PHILOSOPHY

If we all change a bit ourselves the world will change significantly.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I offer my couch. Though the offer has not been taken often yet. I have surfed - more often than I have hosted.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been on a cycling trip from Bonn to Basel with Cory and we surfed couches in Koblenz, Mainz, Ludwigshafen, Germersheim, Karlsruhe, Strasbourg, and Freiburg. This was really a unique experience. So far all Couch Surfers have been extremely open minded, friendly and interesting people. This has been unique lesson in hospitality.

I know quite a few couch surfers here in Bonn. Rarely and usually by accident, I participate in Couch Surfing events. Hence, I must admit, that I am probably not the most active couch surfer in the world. Nevertheless, I totally support the ideas underlying couch surfing and my experience has been very positive so far.
