About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find an equation in which limited time and resources equal unlimited travel.

ABOUT ME

I'm a dreamer, and a maker of Big Plans, some of which even become reality. I talk too much and too fast, and I love good conversations over a cup of tea or a drink.

I'm originally from the archipelago, and I moved to Turku four years ago when I started university. Of these past five years I've only spent a little over half actually living here, but Turku is the place I call home, and always love returning to.

I now live in my favourite city, Edinburgh, and although I won't be able to host, I'd be more than happy to meet up with anyone who's passing through, as well as locals, of course.

PHILOSOPHY

Having met the most amazing people, and then being forced to say goodbye to them, time and time again, I try to think: "Don't cry because it's over - smile because it happened". Enjoy every new friendship, even if it has a "deadline" - you gain more from knowing that person than you lose when parting with them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

It's been really great to meet the people I've hosted so far, to show them my city and my culture, and get to know them. I've also been very lucky with my own hosts, staying with very different people, and learning from all of them. I've also been to meetings in London, Edinburgh and Turku.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted and surfed with several people since the summer '09 and had lots of great experiences!

When I was living in London and Edinburgh I went to the weekly meeting several times.

Interests

I love reading, and own way too many books. I also enjoy writing and photography, although I never seem to have enough time to immerse myself in them as much as I'd like to.

I study languages, and have been know to get into linguistic conversations that last ages. As long as it's not grammar, I find most aspects of language really fascinating, especially if it's got to do with translation, interpreting or bilingualism.

Other things I enjoy are baking (especially if someone else does the dishes afterwards!), travelling (obviously), endless planning (of travels and other things) and spending time with my friends (preferably in cosy cafés), to list some.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love books - I'm well on the way of setting up my own personal library! That person you see at the airport who looks like they're about to fall down under the weight of their carry-on backpack, that's me trying to get home all the books I bought during my trip! Favourites include Jane Eyre, And Then There Were None, Harry Potter, Pride and Prejudice, Gentlemen and Players, and many more.

I also love movies, especially Chocolat, Becoming Jane, My Sister's Keeper, Love Actually, and Milk, among others.

I take my iPod wherever I go, but I can't really define my taste in music - my playlists are random, to say the least! Most genres are represented, but at the moment my favourites include Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, Florence and the Machine, and Coldplay.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Touring the North Island of New Zealand for a week, and especially caving in Waitomo and skydiving in Taupo! A tour in the Scottish highlands was also amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you an insight into Finnish culture, and teach you some recipes if you like. If you share my interest in languages, there's also much I can share in that area. Recommendations on good books, movies, and destinations are something I always like to give and receive.
