CURRENT MISSION
Breeze driftin'on by... you know how I feel
ABOUT ME
I am a person. I live in Amsterdam, I don't belong here yet but it does feel like my home.
People, travel, cultures and WORDS fascinate me but this is what everyone tends to write and it feels cliche to do so now... unfortunately my vocabulary is slowly decreasing due to the fact that people tend to struggle with my crass New Zealand accent! The fact that I've had to 'tweak' the way I speak saddens me a little, but I really do want to have a reciprocal conversation with you.
I love music and good conversation. Sitting in front of fires in the winter and dancing under the stars in Summer.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I became a 'default' couchsurfer when I moved into an amazing flat full of well seasoned couchsurfers in Berlin. There was a constant stream of cool, funny, weird, interesting people and I loved (almost) every minute of it.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm quite selective when it comes to this exuberant couchsurfing machine. Doing so has resulted in an eclectic group of people that I now consider friends...awwww

Music, Movies, and Books
Waltz with Bashir, Pan's Labyrinth, Princess Bride (for nostalgic reasons), 12 Angry Men, Dancer in the Dark, The Life Aquatic, Turtles can Fly (even though it made me cry for days), R, Kontroll, Dogtooth, Broken Flowers, Calvaire... Old films with no colour and dancing. I dislike Hollywood.
Beruit, Sigur Ros, The Mint Chicks, Nina Simone, Pheonix Foundation, DD/MM/YYYY, Future Islands, Freddy Fudd Pucker, Old Crow Medicine Show, Miles Davis, Mulatu Astatke, The Black Keys, Queens of the Stone Age... Brant Bjork... Kyuss... Eagles of Death Metal - generally anything those boys touch, Neil Young (On the Beach - favourite album of all time!), Death from above 1979, Kate Bush, Okkervil River, Little Bushman... Blues blues blues and surf guitar music, Mars Volta, Deerhoof, Holy Fuck, The Bad Plus.... way too many to name. I like music.
The Life of Pi but funnily enough not Yann Martel, anything by Kafka, Oliver Sacks and bizarre short stories from Peter Carey... books are like music, I need them.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've paid for lots of artificially adrenaline stimulating activities such as skydiving, hangliding, paragliding, bungee jumping, helicopter flying, giant swinging etc etc.
But....
The most amazing things I have seen thus far are the simple things. Sleeping outside under a blanket of billions of stars, watching a turtle swim past me underwater, dancing for 3 days straight on top of a mountain, being half of a two man audience of Vorn and his Pop Scientists, swimming in the sea with phosphorescence, sharing a moment with an strange elderly German man at my beach in Nelson... the waves were warm and rolling, the rain was slowly falling and the entire sky was was a kaleidoscope of colours... tu meke
