About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Get out and meet amazing people and connect to complete world altering projects
ABOUT ME
I am passionate about global public health issues. My degree in Public Health has equiped me with the tools to work in this field but my passion comes from my experiences traveling and meeting individuals along the way. I have seen the power of all people regardless of nationallity or race.
Over the last 4 years most of my traveling has been centered around working with various humanitarian projects. Some of these have been through organizations and others have been finding a need and working to meet it with my friends. Through all of this work I know I have helped others but I have benefited much more learning lessons that I never could have in a classroom.
This last year I worked for a non profit managing medical teams working in Haiti and in August I hope to return to the project this time stationed in Haiti managing all of the in country logistics. In addition, I would be working on other projects that I have an interest in including anti-parasite distributions and micro enterprise initiatives.
PHILOSOPHY
"When it comes to global health, there is no 'them'... only 'us.'"
-Global Health Council
âTravel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness.â â Mark Twain
"For me, an area of moral clarity is: you're in front of someone who's suffering and you have the tools at your disposal to alleviate that suffering or even eradicate it, and you act."
-Paul Farmer
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Currently I surf but I hope to soon have a place I can host from.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I love the idea of CouchSurfing because while I am new to the official community I have had several amazing experiences staying with locals both planned and unplanned. On one trip I was on a bus from Botswana to South Africa to catch a flight the next day back to the United States. I began talking with the person sitting next to me and when he found out I was planning on spending the night in the airport because I had an early flight he insisted that I come stay with him for the night. All of a sudden my night changed from a long night in the airport to spending the night with a 40 year old Indian medical student and meeting all of his friends on campus.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies- I am a fan of comedies and action movies with my two favorites being Boondock Saints and The Hangover.
Music- I enjoy listening to just about any music although despite being from the south I am not a big country music fan. At the moment my favorite artist is probably U2.
Books- Lately I have been into reading non fiction books. Currently, I am reading Emporer of Maladies.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was on a safari in Masai Mara Kenya and we had finally found a cheetah lying in the bush. At this same moment our vehicle got stuck and our driver said we needed to get out and give it a push. A cheetah looks sleak and powerful when you see it in person for the first time but it is a whole different experience when you are standing 100 feet away with no protection trying to push a truck.
