ABOUT ME

I'm Jessie, 24 years old and I live in a small student town called Leiden (30 minutes away from Amsterdam). I am finishing off my thesis for my masters degree (European policy) in Amsterdam at the moment, so a lot of time in the library unfortunaletely ;) I'm afraid I won't get to travel as much as I'd want to in the next year (since I'll have to start applying for jobs), but I'm always looking into destinations, flight tickets etc, 'cause I just can't get enough of it :) In fall 2009 I spent a semester in Vancouver, Canada. I had the best 6 months over there, met amazing people and saw breath-taking places. In January and February 2010 I travelled on the eastcoast of the US & Canada with my friend Karlijn. Another travel experience worth mentioning was the water & water management course I did in the Philippines - really a life changing experience! My last 'foreign' experience was an internship in Berlin, last Spring.

What else can I tell you about me? I love chai tea, chocolate almonds, How I met your mother, travelling, hugging, flowers, apfelschorle, dinners with friends, cinema, Schiphol airport (and any other airport as a matter of fact ;)) the Canucks (and everything else from Canada), food, dancing to 80s and 90s music, snow, my boyfriends' great cooking, good cappuccino (including good coffee art ;)), lifestyle magazines, drawing and painting, singing along to everything, laughing about my own jokes and meeting people from all around the world. I am not very fond of running, rain & whiny people.

PHILOSOPHY

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Karlijn and me had our first couchsurfing experience in Victoria (Vancouver Island). It was truly unforgettable. After that we did a lot of couchsurfing on the eastcoast of the USA and Canada. I have hosted twice until now, but hope to do it a lot more in the future :)

Thinks which make me happy: long conversations with my good friends, ice cream, my mum's food whenever Im back home, a great book, new shoes, green tea, surfing the internet for information on Vancouver/Canada/other travels, dating, meeting new people/friends, travelling, vla (a dutch desert), ice skating, laughing till everything hurts, taking public transport in/to places I've never been before, crying during good films, watching 'friends' in my warm bed and loads and loads of other things :)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I swam in Morraine Lake in the Rockies- well, swam.. I ran into it and out of it in max. 8 seconds (even though I hate running). It was SO beautiful, I just had to do it!

Banaue rice terraces and riding on top of a jeepney in the Philippines were pretty amazing too!

I can tell you a lot about the Netherlands and Dutch culture (MUCH more than smoking weed and prostitutes), the EU (since its my area of study) and I can teach you a couple of languages ;)
