About Me

CURRENT MISSION

CHAINGEtheCYCLE ~exploring alternatives

ABOUT ME

I am happy to be alive!
Presently I am on a big journey by bicycle to learn about sustainable alternatives to our present day consumption styles.

In 2009/2010 I was living in India, at Sadhana Forest, a community on the south east coast of India, where I enjoyed working in the forest, the kitchen and designing and building with earth for the growth of this beautiful community.
In 2010/2011 I lived and worked in Australia and fell in love with both Australia and my beloved Mykal.
After a beautiful journey back to The Netherlands I enjoyed living in Amsterdam for a while.
But life and love drew me back to Australia in 2012, where Mykal and I prepared for a cycle journey to The Americaas by bamboo bicycle! Jeeeyyyy!

PHILOSOPHY

"All journeys have secret destinations of which the traveler is unaware."
- Martin Buber

Let's meet and find out what we can learn from one another!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have enjoyed hosting when I have a base, and since I've been traveling I have enjoyed being hosted and meeting CS members!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with lots of lovely couchsurfing hosts all over the world : )
Also had one negative experience, in India, and I would not recommend a girl-by-herself surfing in India.

Interests

I enjoy meeting people and wandering. In nature and in an urban environment.
I studied European Urban Cultures, Leisure and conventional archittecture and hands on natural building.
I am interested in DIY, activism, architecture, art, permaculture.
I practice yoga and meditation on a daily basis and I love swimming, photography, writing, playing ukulele and drawing.

Music, Movies, and Books

books: Blindness by Jose Saramago, any book by Murakami, books about adventures and journeys.
movies: animations, anything by Spanish Almodovar, documentaries, but since I've lived in India I'm up for Bollywood as well : )
I've taken up playing ukulele.. not talented, but it is FUN! yeeey! : )

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have sat in an old car tyre on top of a truck stacked with big bags of charcoal and veggies, while holding on to a steel bar to not be thrown off the thing and into a ravine. This was in beautiful Haiti..

Teach, Learn, Share

I studied Architecture, European Urban Cultures, and Leisure Studies and presently I study at the Uni of Life, learning and supporting a worldwide network!!
I have an activistic and engaged attitude to my direct living environment, and aim to live as sustainable as possible.
The past years I have lived in various sustainable communities in in The Netherlands, India and Australia.
