About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Loving our new home in Oakland after traveling.

ABOUT ME

We returned to the States after one year backpacking around the world. We had amazing experiences with couchsurfers all over the planet, and are looking forward to hosting travelers, making new friends, and paying back some of the excellent hospitality we received.

Before our trip we lived in NYC. After our trip we moved back to the San Francisco Bay area, where Juliah is originally from.

Juliah sits in a chair and tries to solve complex problems while drinking herbal tea. Her new hobbies are making terrariums and crew on lake merrit. She sails with her dad and visits her 102 year old grandma. She also rides her old creaky bike around town and brings home too many groceries from the farmers market.

Mark is works with young people with disabilities. He rides the largest bike you ever saw around town and grows tomato plants on the kitchen table. He is also learning sign language.

Together we enjoy hiking, cooking, biking and hanging out with friends and the occasional night out on the town.

PHILOSOPHY

Go alone if you want to go fast, but go together if you want to go far.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Thanks to Couchsurfing, we've stayed with hosts in Syria, Jordan, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda, attended great Christmas and New Year's parties in Cambodia, driven across Lebanon with a local university student and camped out next to a pagan sweat lodge. Meeting CSers has made our world bigger and more rich.

We're now very excited to share our space and time with travelers, and to meet other San Franciscans with a passion for travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have hosted and surfed.

One of our favorite couch surfing experience was meeting Pello and his lovely family in Monduli Tanzania where Pello showed us the ways of his Masai village and took us to see Mt. Kilimanjaro.

One of our favorite hosting experiences was hosting Sven, who we had met in Uganda.

Interests

Meeting new people, seeing areas off the tourist radar, collaborative cooking, bike rides, beer drinking, indoor gardening.
