PHILOSOPHY

The kinder you are to people, the happier they will be, and you too, its a positive feedback loop. Be optimistic, sometimes even if its irrational. Help people come to their own wisdom and let them help you come to yours. Be generous with your time and attention. A learner and a teacher be. Embrace newness while respecting the time tested. We are so fantastically fortunate to be living right now at a time of miraculous technology which helps us participate in creating a new whole world culture. Lastly, the philosophical ideas attributed to Siddhartha Gautama recommend themselves to me and I think to anyone inclined to sympathy and empathy toward others and who prefers peacefulness and sharing to conflict. So far...hosted Jeffrey from Canada and the Villalonga family from France...great experiences both. CS is the bomb :)

Interests

Well...history, science, computers, music (Jazz, Hip Hop, Classical, World, and on and on), movies (good movies, not junk food, usually), good meals, Good Conversation, good sex (its pretty rare that there is actually bad sex), camping/hiking/nature, fixing things, Good Friends, politics and human progress, listening watching hearing or reading anything interesting, Laughing as much as possible, the origins of anything (humans, languages, civilizations), New Stuff, Quantum and Inter-dimensional Physics and Cosmology (not that I personally understand them in any depth, but I love to hear what those who do can tell us), good science fiction, dogs and sailing ships. Oh ya, travel...who knew?

Favorite novel ever: Shantaram. Favorite movies: too many to remember...I'll work on it. Favorite music: right now I'm really into old jazz, 20s, 30s 40s, 50s and current world music...loving Otros Aires right now. Best music to get high and dance: Hip Hop. Favorite series: WOW: Breaking Bad, best series ever; WOW: The Wire, close runner up for best series ever; love Downton Abbey; like a lot Boardwalk Empire, Vikings, and Game of Thrones. Love Rachel Maddow, Bill Maher, Jon Stewart, and Saturday night live when its good.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Witnessed the birth of my friend's daughter live. Flew tandem in a hang glider over La Joya...amazing...gotta do that again. Jumped off a 30 ft cliff into the Pacific on Big Island. Tested new pacemaker algorithms on real people in the OR. Living right now at this time in a world of miraculous technology and mixing of cultures is amazing. Go Humanity!
