About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Looking forward to meeting new people, learning new languages (or improving on the ones I'm supposed to know), and "living temporarily abroad" rather than traveling!

ABOUT ME

I enjoy getting lost in cities I don't know and ending up in random places with people I would never have met except off the beaten track.
I'm undaunted in my quest to discover new places, meet new people and try new things - and it's not likely to change any time soon! I can thus be a bit reckless some time, but only if it's worth the candle. Otherwise I was told I'm easy-going and calm, and I suppose it's a fair description.

PHILOSOPHY

I could fill this in, but my "personal philosophy" is likely to have changed by the time you read this!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I see CS as a way to meet local people and travel in a less superficial way. I cannot currently host couchsurfers in Paris but I'm eager to help discover the city when I'm around. Friends often tell me I'm the best Paris tour guide: I know all the nooks and crannies and the history that's behind.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Main CS experience: Taiwan, Summer 2009, during the Morakot typhoon!

Interests

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: Ghost World, Le Guépard (I know, it's long but it's great), Chungking Express, Pulp Fiction, Ghost Dog (and Le Samouraï)...

Books: L'Ecume des Jours, Père Goriot, A Hero of Our Time, Behind the Dark Pines, The Master and Marguerite...

Music: Beijing punk, the Velvet Undergound, baroque music, Prefuse 73...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've crossed the Sahara desert twice (well, a tiny part of it), was stuck by a flood in central Vietnam one night and had to sleep with villagers and poultry in the one attic of the village, and ate loads of stuff that give most people the creeps...

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm thrilled at learning languages. I know from experience I'm a terrible teacher... but if you already know the basics I can surely help you with those I like to believe I can speak!
