Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have a house that is way too big. It is nice to meet new people and share some of our extra space. I love meeting travelers and learning about places I have not been and should visit!
If you arrive at our house by bicycle you will get the royal treatment.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have now hosted several times and they have all been positive experiences. I definitely enjoy providing the space for people to sleep after exploring the area.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love downtempo, trip hop and acid jazz. Cuban and various world music as well. Quite fond of most forms of jazz. The more likely that you are to hear it on the radio, the less interested I am!
Lately I have been reading a lot of trashy crime fiction. In general I am a fiction reader. I am not a fan of "serious" literature.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Expedition caving for 8 days in Lechuguilla Cave, New Mexico.
Travel for a year across 3 countries with 2 kids under 6, including living in a van in New Zealand for 3 months.
Teach, Learn, Share
My wife Michael (pronounced like Michelle) is a stay at home mom with a PhD in cognitive psychology and a national bronze medal in amateur boxing. I left school just before finishing my PhD in cognitive psychology, while double majoring in computer science. I have gained extensive knowledge about software patents without having any formal education in that area. I know lots about expedition and vertical caving. We have some non-traditional approaches for child rearing based on research and foreign travels that we are willing to discuss with anyone who is interested.
