About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Ecologist and farmer by trade and practice...Plan to keep gaining experience that will lead to graduate school in landscape architecture.
ABOUT ME
Grew up in a gorgeous little known pocket of the upper midwest, coulee country. Born and raised along the Mississippi, I feel a strong connection to its waters. Loving nature and those old cultures that were close to it lead me to study ecology....that in turn lead me to engage myself in the strong sustainable agriculture movement happening in Wisconsin...those experiences both in turn got me into permaculture. I've been bouncing between farming and ecological restoration since college. Now I am moving out to central NY for more eco-resto work where I plan to stick it out a few years, work for a great company, and gear up for an eventual Masters in Landscape Architecture.
Secondly, I love music. I play guitar, bass, and can fool around on any instrument. I love it all. Talking Heads, Bowie, King Crimson, Brian Eno, all sorts of other prog-rock, fusion, folk, some indie, the list goes on.
I am now up to my eyes in home brewing as a hobby. Beer is an amazing thing.
PHILOSOPHY
Wow....I've been lucky enough to learn a lot of important things about the natural world....seen lots of places on the planet...meet lots of people...therefore I want to use what I know to help create a more sustainable landscape for us and all the other animate and inanimate things out there. Certainly not to save the world, but to heal the world and make it a better place...just like the late Michael Jackson sang about.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Well, I signed up after hearing about other friends' experiences while traveling. Another friend is a host.
I signed up to help meet people and the new place which I am moving to. Once I get settled in, I'll surely become a surfing destination. Through my experiences in farming, I have learned a lot about community...ithappens in so many ways, and being young and somewhat unsettled, couch surfing is a great way to promote a new and exciting form of community.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I just moved from Wisconsin to New York and couch surfed all along the way. It was a great first official surfing trip and a fantastic way to make a move.
I "crash" at my buddy's house in Madison, WI when i visit...he's a CS host site, but I never was a true "surfer'. I stayed there when surfers were there and always enjoyed the experience.
