ABOUT ME

I'm curious, enthusiastic and a little nerdy. I am usually riding my bike, reading or crafting. I play keyboards in a band called Swordfern, sing in a few choirs and am learning to play the fiddle, badly. I knit, spin and dye my own wool and am getting really into bike mechanics. I volunteer with a free bike project that helps low income people build their own bikes from donated parts.

I'm all about personal growth through experience and challenging yourself. Stagnation is a mind-killer. I believe in DIY and taking care of each other.

Music, Movies, and Books

Rediscovering my love for fiction after years of reading only non-fiction. Favorite books: The Master and Margarita by Mikhail Bulgakov, Beloved by Toni Morrison and The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. I want to live in Dinotopia, or maybe Middle Earth. The Pixies are my favorite band. Most television is drivel but I am wildly obsessed with Freaks and Geeks and BBC Nature shows. Movies? Songcatcher, animations by Yuri Norstein, Life is Beautiful, Royal Tenenbaums, Ingmar Bergman films, trashy romcoms like Say Anything...

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit, sew, stencil and bake. I might be able to show you how to fix what's wrong with your bike but I make no promises. I can also tell you all about the moral and philosophical implications of the Harry Potter series. I would like to learn how to bead and make Balinese nasi goreng!
