About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To make a grand adventure out of life, and spread positivity wherever possible.

ABOUT ME

I'm Sam - I thrive on spontaneity and new experiences just as much as I enjoy naps and reading.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm quite settled in an improbably tiny studio apartment, and when I'm not working (which is almost always), I try to attend events!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only done it once so far, but it went really great! I lived in Los Angeles for a few months many years back, looking for CS meetups I could attend, but sadly not one didn't conflict with my work schedule. Since then, I've been steadily building a busy career and travel has been a lifeline.

Interests

I'm an avid redditor, and drop by r/twincitiessocial meetups fairly frequently. I love good craft beer and unique cocktails, and infuse my own vodka when the resources are available. I play quite a bit more PC games than the average person, though I'm by no means a basement-dweller. Most importantly, I just love to have a good conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a complete geek, and can't get enough sci-fi/fantasy of any variety so long as it's really well done.

I make my own music on rare occasion (soundcloud.com/graugussziege), and am into all things Industrial - also a big fan of straight-up techno, IDM, electro, punk and post-punk, goth rock, and new wave.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I like to think the most amazing things i'll ever see are ahead of me; however, one that stands out in my mind right now is seeing the sun rise over Nebraska while in a plane. Right on the edge of the horizon was a massive storm cloud, which gave the sun and other clouds a blood-red hue as they streaked across the vast plains and farmlands. Miniscule bolts of cloud-to-cloud lighting popped across the red clouds, giving the whole thing the appearance of a pulsating veiny organism breathing life and light into the world. I'll never forget it.

On a more mundane note, my career working in stadiums brings me into frequent contact with all kinds of athletes, celebrities, and musicians, and every now and then the encounters are bizarre enough to be worthy of storytime.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a tiny bit of just about everything, but there's no one topic i'm an expert in. I'm an afficionado of dozens of things ranging from good beer to polish food to video games to world history. As for learning, I'm open to any and all suggestions that don't involve an irrationally high risk of irreversible bodily harm (I make an exception for urban exploring). One thing in particular I've been trying to do more of is bouldering, climbing, and hiking, though it's difficult to find the funds.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have an insatiable love of good food, and with a small handful of dishes, can knock your socks off with my cooking. I'm a complete internet junkie, and have a near-encyclopedic knowledge of bafflingly stupid/amazing youtube videos. I tend to be down for anything, and have no problem meeting new people!
