ABOUT ME

Having moved around alot as a child I have permantly itchy feet and a thirst for knowledge about the world around me. I love to travel to experience other cultures, meet new people and find out how other people round the world live.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

As yet I have never been couch surfing but my friends keep raving about it so I thought I'd better try it out myself!

I studied English at Uni and I'm still a bit of a book geek (esp women's writing) and try to write my own poetry and short fiction.
I come from a very musical family and love watching and listening to all kinds of music especially folk, blues and indie. I've also play guitar (rather badly).
I am an active enviromental and political campaigner and have worked for Oxfam and People & Planet (a charity that empowers young people to campaign).
I also like gardening and gorwing my own veg, making wine and baking, visual art, alternative film, Hereford cider, cycling (cycled around the Isle of Mull this summer), walking, travelling and generally being outside exploring new places!

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

My favourite writers are Jeanette Winterson, Angela Carter, A.S. Byatt an other writers of a feminist persuasion. Poetry wise I love Dylan Thomas. I also am really into Indian fiction written in English such as by Kiran Desai and Arundhati Roy.
Favourite films include Amelie, The science of Sleep and The Fountain and any Wes Anderson film.
Music wise: New folk (Laura Marling, Laura Veirs, The Tallest Man on Earth, Mumford & Sons etc), old blues, dub and reggae, world beats, electro swing and so forth

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I am a dab hand at anything crafty and I can make wine, grow veg, use and sewing machine and make clothes. I would be happy to share any of these skills (and could even teach a few basic chord shapes on the guitar!)
