ABOUT ME

I just graduated from UCLA in June, and am excited that my future is wide open! I am spending this summer and fall traveling to South America, Europe, and Africa, in hopes of getting the kind of real-life education you can't quite get in school :) Eventually I want to work with at-risk youth either in the US or abroad

Interests

the first thing you should know about me is that I am a total nerd and harbor a rather disturbing addiction to books--I love to read. I was an English major, and therefore also have an affinity for grammar, verbal wit, and the feel of paper. I am convinced that my life wouldn't be the same without theater, musicals, jazz music, latin music, and classical piano. I love discovering random new things, traveling, and learning languages.

I have a great yearning to be outdoors, and love the feel of dirt, the smell of fresh cut wood, the beauty of towering trees, and just plain working with my hands. One of favorite getaways is going to my family's cabin up north in California--we have 500 acres of land that we have mapped out, built on, and continue to care for. Nothing is quite as satisfying as busting my butt all day at the cabin, sometimes by clearing brush or fixing the deck, for example, and then enjoying a glass of iced tea down by the river, where cell phones and the Internet don't reach.
