About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am here on this earth primarily to enjoy myself which involves being around when I am needed as nothing makes me happier than the happiness of friends.

ABOUT ME

Wow, this box is pretty open in its request. Let's see how we go shall we?
I am always up for whatever. My favorite phrase and the one I am known by my friends to utter the most often is "why not?" (pourquoi pas ?). I love to travel. Almost more than anything, I love to travel. Everything about it is excellent. Travel is like pizza and sex, even when it's bad, you're still travelling. I love getting lost in big cities and in dark forests. Not knowing a word of the language is even better. The unknown frightens and excites me. The only thing more important than travel is the good people around me. When I am doing the two at the same time and I am truely at peace.

PHILOSOPHY

I am quite liberal (just ask my poor frustrated wife). I believe that everyone should be responsible for their own actions. There should be one real law in total "Do what the hell you want without negatively effecting others." That covers everything.
I have three sayings that cover my thoughts on life and mutual responsibility:
"It's not the size of the dog in the fight but rather the size of the fight in the dog." - A Small Dog
"A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in." - Greek proverb
"A strong man stands up for himself. A stronger man stands up for others." - Ben the cow.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

To date I have been to one Camping/BBQ with CS but I have a long history of having travelers in my spare room, it has just never before been through CS. The world is made a better place by travellers sharing experiences and receiving the kindness of strangers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

1 BBQ and 2 German drive by's so far.

Interests

Everything tempered by a fear of heights.
I will give anything a go. Outside preferably. I guess my great love is music. I don't play at all (I can make a saxaphone sound real bad) but I appreciate it in others. If there is a festival on, I will be the sweaty guy up the front.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm not really getting into this. There is too much good literature out there and too many bad films.
Any books that take me away to a place that I can truley feel and that I have never been before.
Any movie that questions norms and perceptions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have travelled since I was a child and I still find many things amazing. Nature is amazing. Humans not so much but when they have their moments they can truely shine.
The most amazing thing I have seen is the transformation some poeple go through when they travel. Some people almost become a new person and to them travel will always be special.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not a good teacher, especially if you are not a good student. I know a little bit about everything and not a lot about much that is interesting (anyone care about how best to configure a RAID array in a SAN? anyone know what that means?).
I wish I knew how to tie more types of knots.
