ABOUT ME
Born in Glasgow and raised in the quaint but hair-tearingly dull town of Crieff, slap-bang in the middle of Scotland. Gap year in sunny Barcelona. Currently studying Classics at Cambridge and loving it.
PHILOSOPHY
Hovering somewhere between Plato and Epicurus...
...less pretentiously, I don't think there's a god, but I don't think there's nothing either. As to why I live my life... *shrugs*
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Unfortunately unable to host at present because I'm either at my parent's house (in aforementioned Crieff where no-one in their right mind would want to go anyway) or at uni, in halls, where I think I might get into trouble :-(. But I can meet up for coffee and maybe get you into King's College Chapel for free :-)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I was introduced to Couchsurfing by my bestest best friend Ellie when we surfed our way across the couches of Italy last summer, and I can safely say that it was the best holiday I've ever had. We met such a collection of interesting, funny, relaxed and kind people, and I can't wait to surf again and host myself.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: Fight Club, Donnie Dark, Moulin Rouge the Painted Veil, Cabaret (are among my favourites)
Music:
Rufus Wainwright, Radiohead, the Smiths, the Beatles Patrick Wolf, Amanda Palmer and the Dresdens Dolls, also music from musicals and odd classical bits and bobs.
Books: The Secret History, Volpone, The Picture of Dorian Gray (and anything by Oscar Wilde) Lanark, Vellum and Ink (and anything by Hal Duncan, including his fun blog), Harry Potter, Middlemarch, Wuthering Heights, Lucretius (the Latin Richard Dawkins) and Plato.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Some jaw-dropping places:
The Vatican and St Peter's Basilica (made me want to blaspheme REALLY LOUDLY. Very gold and big and sparkly)
Salvador Dali museum in Figueres, near Barcelona. Not everyone's cup of tea, but he captures my imagination more than any other painter because he paints things that my imagination CAN'T capture.
Staffa, off Mull (?I think) Wonderfully stacky scottish island. Wanted to build a house. somehow don't think I'll get planning permission.
Bedruthven steps. This is a beach in Cornwall, went there when I was 12, don't really know where it is but it's amazing. You go down about 100 thin precarious steps to a beach with huge climbable rock stacks and a sucking sea with waves to die for.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you Italian swearwords, basic guitar chords and scottish country dancing. (and also English if you don't speak it as I'm a qualified TEFL teacher :-) )
I love languages of all shapes and sizes, so I'd love to learn whatever amusing expressions your language (or dialect of English) has to offer.

France, Italy
