About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Expand my horizons, party with a purpose.
ABOUT ME
Retired 6 years ago with my husband Ken, of 40 years and moved from Albany, NY to Emerald Isle, NC. We made friends fast down here in the South and love the milder climate. We are walking distance to the beach and sound given that this is a barrier island. We have 3500 people off season, growing to about 60,000 during summer season.
Our children live far away in Maine and Nevada. We love to travel but we also love it here.
We are also active in the local Parrot Head Club - Party with a Purpose.
PHILOSOPHY
There is good in everyone, you have to believe in them and some people need a bit more help than others. Everyone has something to share. Given the chance most people will give and contribute to a better world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We have hosted three times, great experiences and we have been hosted once and loved it. What a great way to meet all sorts of folks.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have hosted for a total of four days (3 surfers) and learned a lot and enjoyed the great conversations. On our stay in California we couched surfed one night and had a blast. It beats bed and breakfast hands down as we found it to be a friendly way to find out about the area we were stayng and a great way to meet new friends.
Interests
kayaking, swimming, biking, SCUBA, traveling, book club and yoga, sea turtle protection program., Parrot Heads. My husband is also a waterfowl carver, taking it up upon retirement. I guess we are professional volunteers now and love the freedom of choice we have.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Learning to SCUBA dive at the age of 58...went beyond my comfort level, but I did it! Moving away from everything and everyone we know to start over in a new community was scary and rewarding.
Teach, Learn, Share
If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane.
