About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To meet new people in Chicago.

ABOUT ME

I'm a very kind, considerate English gent, always searching for the magical corners of life. I'm a screenwriter and musician, and currently trying my hand at animation, which has been good fun so far. I love to experience new things, but I'm a little shy in person, so couch surfing is a great way to meet new people and get new perspectives on life. I'm a big kid, really - I have to be to stay immersed in creativity - and refuse to become jaded or bitter about life, no matter what happens. I love learning and sharing different people's perspectives on the world.

I occasionally odd-job as an extra on film & TV.

PHILOSOPHY

Be nice to everyone, and eat interesting flavour ice cream.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had positive experiences. I've hosted more often than I've surfed, and it's always been really good. I still speak to one of my former guests on Skype around once a week - what a great way to make new friends!

Interests

Film is what I do - I love to watch as well as make. I can play a number of instruments to a slightly competent level... not enough to impress anyone with my skill, but sufficient to make fairly decent recordings of my songs. I'm a bit nerdy about 60s music, especially The Beatles, as well as some sci-fi shows like Doctor Who and Firefly. And I love They Might Be Giants. I don't watch sport except Formula 1 motor racing, to the bafflement of most of my friends, who don't see me as a racing fan.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I did stunts on Sherlock Holmes 2 - sadly, they got cut out of the finished film, but it was still a great experience. I've seen and done a lot of amazing things in my life as an extra, but character doubling and doing an actual stunt on a major Hollywood film was pretty much the pinnacle.

I've played a gig at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

I faced a lot of my fears to spend several days in Morocco. It was scary in places, but an amazing experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach basic guitar or ukulele. I'm happy to teach people movie screenwriting structure... normally jealously-guarded tricks of the trade, but something I'm personally happy to share. I'm a pretty good cook, and I like to make interestingly-flavoured cakes.

Countries I’ve Visited
