About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi!
I'm a self-employed translator and copywriter among other things. Former literature and sociology student.
I like baking granola, dancing tango or lindy hop, and walking around. These are my three complementary activities. If you meet me, you can also get me to go watch theatre, live music or movies (those are my favorites), hang around in museums and exhibitions, explore food possibilities... but watch out, I can get a little obsessive with the latter. Usually, when I can't get something I want right away, I need to cook or bake it the same day (I don't know a lot about cooking, but I am learning).

I'm a host on a student radio show talking about the latest movie releases.
I am a big sleeper and try to get used to it. I am also a good reader, which puts me to sleep. I sleep on trains, planes, road trips, sometimes standing on my feet, but am a good fellow when I wake up, and know the best summer camp songs. I travel around as much as I can (except when I start to be more attracted by Paris'tango), lived in Brooklyn, New York for a year, and went back there twice so far, so I find it fair to say it is my second home.

Sometimes I feel compelled to do the important touristy stuff when I am somewhere, but I certainly enjoy more oddness, unexpected situations... and chilling. I am cynical and grumble about society, consumerism, modernity, blah blah, while I buy a bunch of clothes, which leads me to say I am not a pro in "standing for something", but definitely in self-mockery; by the way, I am a very good audience, and to me one of the most important things in life is laughter. I also decided recently to be a big fan of US stand-up comedy. AND! to learn how to be a barista, if anyone can teach me. It's not really about the latte art, but more that it seems it could get me a job everywhere in the world (of Paris and NYC... and maybe somewhere else...)

PHILOSOPHY

I try to open my mind wider every day, along with building a knowledge and a life science. Good luck with that Laura.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couchsurf whenever I can, advertise couchsurfing around, and meet couchsurfers from time to time for tours around or drinks...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed many couches and met amazing people all across the USA, during a two month road and bike trip with my friend Val.

Before that, I couchsurfed several times in Romania, once in Philadelphia, met a lot of people in New York, all those experiences have been great. Couchsurfing is definitely part of my life, even though I can be very...absent cause of my frequent updating issues.

Interests

Life, theatre, dancing (tango and swing dancing have become a big part of my life), art in general and art epiphanies, cinema, traveling, and literature, laziness, and being irresolute. I like bars also. Food has already been over-mentionned. I have a film camera that I like a lot, carry around and barely ever use. I play boggle.

I'd like to learn how to play the clarinet!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies_ any style, period, country, length. I like the corny but not the "are-you-kidding-me-conformism-banal&stupid-hollywoodness" (except some when I am in a good mood, then I will yell at you if you're too grumpy about it)

Music_ all discoveries... World (wow, that's wide), jazz, oldies, electronic, french "pop" and songs, folk, things we call "alternative"...
Three people/group, random ? Cesaria Evora, Nina Simone, Bratsch. Hum.

Books_ French literature (sounds restrictive? my bookcase is full of that stuff), Wilde, Faulkner, Kundera...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wrote a book. Damn, it was dream.

"You sleep twenty-six hours a day."

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to give French lessons, questions are welcome.

You can teach me the rest.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Longlasting conversations about anything but don't get me started on social dance.
