ABOUT ME
After graduating college, I traveled around the world and interned/volunteered with various environmental education organizations (from a forest kindergarten in Germany to a desert center in Namibia). Some hiking and farming thrown in for good measure. I wanted to explore how different cultures and countries teach their children about a 'sense of place.' How do the different ways of instilling a connection to the land reflect differences in values, geography, cultural context, historical background, etc?
PHILOSOPHY
Be the Sponge.
Soak up everything.
Interests
Traveling, writing, running, backpacking, biking, slacklining, fresh and local fruits and vegetables, education, baking (especially bread!), circus arts, painting, singing around a campfire. Puns. Learning banjo. Other general silliness. Picnics.

Music: So much. Always love learning about great music that you love. Playing guitar and banjo and writing nerdy science songs for students. Oh! Street music!
Books: Lots! Shantaram, 100 Years of Solitude, Cutting for Stone, The History of Love, A Confederacy of Dunces, The Poisonwood Bible, Ender's Game, State of Wonder, The Count of Monte Cristo, Middlesex, Snow Falling on Cedars, A Prayer for Owen Meany, The House of the Spirits, A Visit from the Goon Squad, The Giver, Calvin and Hobbes
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Unicycled across the Golden Gate Bridge!
And biked across the United States with eleven 15 and 16 year olds!
Roasted marshmallows over an active volcano
Solar cooked everything for 3 months
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to juggle! Or how to make a dreamcatcher. Or how to make ice cream (I have a gourmet ice cream business!)
I'd love to learn how to cook your favorite regional specialty. Or any other teachable skill you have.
