I work a full-time middle/high school teacher

I've spent most of my adult life moving around, but am slowly settling down with my partner in the San Francisco Bay Area

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have spent close to six cumulative weeks surfing (most of which helped me not be homeless while house hunting and getting to know new neighborhoods in Boston and the Bay Area).

I am trying, bit by bit, to give back by hosting whenever I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My CS experience has had a profound influence on my life, ranging from the just plain fun to a crash course in the power of generosity and openness of spirit.

Interests

I'm a seeker of all things new and/or challenging and/or free.

I'm a particular fan of bare feet, dancing, hiking, biking, camping, writing, cooking, tea, good books, live music, education, human rights, social justice, scientific discovery, traveling, mindfulness, and more.

Currently fascinated by my own ignorance and finding ways to become more race/class/gender conscious.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

All of Burning Man 2011.

The White Sands of New Mexico, which are so quiet that you can hear the echo of your own breath and the sound of individual grains of sand moving.

The moments before the parachute goes off.

Snorkeling in cenotes surrounding Tulum.

Waking up to the tremors of an erupting volcano.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have some experience teaching salsa (the dance, not the dip) and editing. I also know lots of strange things about the neuroscience, psychology, and medicine of human happiness and well-being.
