Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first couchsurfed as a way to experience new places in an authentic way and to meet locals. Most my favourite memories of my first backpacking experience through Europe would never have happened without this community.

Now travelling through South America, I hope to use this website to aid my work as a freelance journalist - as a way to meet contacts, discover stories, and investigate locations beyond what the travel budgets of the publications I write for would allow in an age when most media outlets are struggling to pay the bills.
