I went travelling as soon as I finished my studies in 2014. I started in Spain, there I got on a sailing boat with 2 Argentinians. The sailing experience was a real adventure. We sailed all the way to the south of Spain, hit a storm and made an emergency stop in Marbella, stayed in Gibraltar waiting for the wind to change and sailed to the Canary Islands (6 days of sailing). I stayed about a month on Tenerife, where I had an amazing time on a Rainbow Gathering, sleeping outside on a beautiful cliff looking over the wide Atlantic Ocean.
In Tenerife I met a Dutch couple with a small, 9.5m, sailing boat. The same day I met them, we left the port to sail to Cape Verde together (7days of sailing).
From Cape Verde we crossed the Atlantic Ocean to Trinidad. After 20 days of beautiful sailing, I was very happy to enter Carribean waters and see land. By coincidence I met a Spanish friend from the Rainbow Gathering in Tenerife who was staying on the boat of a very sweet Swiss captain. We became very good friends and the 3 of us sailed around all the islands of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. We returned to Trinidad and Tobago, where I helped painting boats and looking for a ride the Venezuala.
My Spanish friend and I found a Venezuelan fishingboat who was willing to take us to Isla Margarita, from where we took the ferry to Venezuela. From thereon I started my South-American adventure on mainland.
I traveled through the North of Venezuela, visited Bogota in Colombia, hitchhiked through Ecuador and Peru and navigated the Amazon River from Iquitos (Peru), to Manaus and Belem (Brasil) where the beautiful Amazon River flows into the Atlantic Ocean. I continued my trip hitchhiking south along the stunning Brazilian coast, with it's beautiful beaches.
I learned a lot during my travels and hope to continue travelling for a long time. I want to thank everyone who helped my out with all kind of things, offering me a place to stay, a plate of food, a person to talk to, an everlasting friendship.
Thank you, gracias, obrigada!
