About Me

ABOUT ME

This "All about me"-stuff is kind of summed up in the fields that follow this one. You might get wiser there!

But this might be a good place to put my hometown in the spotlights.
Arnhem is a small city mainly known for it's part in WorldWar2-history. It's in the east of The Netherlands, but at the same time really centrally situated. And because it's such a small country, you're as north or as west as you can be in 1,5 hours max, so that covers cities like The Hague, Rotterdam, Utrecht, Den Bosch, Groningen, ...
If you like to visit Amsterdam it's a 1 hour train ride, but if you like to see some countryside too there's a lot of variety I could recommend you in and around Arnhem.

PHILOSOPHY

A philosophy on life itself? No, not me.
Or wait....
Actually I think a vegan lifestyle is part of the best ('cause most direct)way of contributing to an ethical rightious and healthy society for people and all living things worldwide, short and long term.
And one does not have to go all altruistic about life (I surely do not either), but I think you have to contribute a little to a better world. By acts, not by sending money. Anyway, in this way I try to reduce my footprint on this earth a little.
And yeah...I thinks it's important too to enjoy life and have fun and bla bla...sure.
Well, there you have it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In October 2009 I had my first CS-experiences. I traveled across Italy and have been hosted by several people, every one of 'em really hospitable and helpful. They added so much to my trip, compared to what it would have been when I just stayed in hostels. Amazing!!
And...inspiring!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I thought couchsurfing meant spending your days off on your couch watching TV.
Well, I travelled Italy by train sep 2009, surfing some couches for the first time and it was a rocking experience!

Music, Movies, and Books

Too much good when it comes to, especially, movies and music. I'm gonna try to cover my spectrum with a few:
Billie Holiday, The Crown, Erik Satie, Isis, Explosions in the Sky, Tom Waits, Venetian Snares.

For movies that will be like:
Azumi, Donnie Darko, Fargo, Una Giornata Particolare, The Godfather, Snatch, Memento, Sonatine, Tzameti, Stranger than Paradise, Spring Summer Fall Winter... and Spring.

The comics and graphic novels i read are mainly crime/noir. Mostly Vertigo (100 Bullets & Preacher are really, really, REALLY awesome) but there's also a lot of Fantagraphics Books and Drawn&Quarterly on the top shelf. I love the kind of dramatic work by Rutu Modan, Adrian Tomine and Yoshihiro Tatsumi. And let's not forget ye good ol' superherostuff about ....wait...you hear that? Quick! To the Batmobile!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

That might be touring Europe in a hired bus with a befriended band, playing small gigs in sometimes even garages. Great vibe all the time. Great people. Lots of fun and all while at new places.

Teach, Learn, Share

When it comes to teaching it's difficult to name something in particular. Could be nothing, could be anything. Really. (Could be veganism though) It depends on what this other person doesn't know, can't do, never thought about....just haven't experienced or ever heard about before.
You never know. Some people turn out to be someone you don't learn anything from (and so what?), some people turn out to be a great inspiration & there's a lot in between.
You just never know. And that's cool!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Seychelles, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States
