ABOUT ME

The first adventure for me outside Australia when I was 18, going over to Brazil for a few weeks. Everywhere was far anyway, so Brazil it was. I went there to meet friends, accept their invitation to come and checkout the place. It became one of my favorite places on earth and I learned to speak Portuguese.

Since then, I returned to Brasil a couple of times and went traveling around overland through Europe, South America, Central and North America, back closer to home in New Zealand. Then went to China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan a few times (for work). Back to Europe. I'm happy on the road.

For now back in Perth. Besides running my business I studied acting and appeared in some tv \ internet \ newspaper commercials, was in a film shown on national tv australia in march 2012 and the work continues when getting back from europe recently.. its been fun so far doing this new work as an actor

PHILOSOPHY

Treating other people how i'd like to be with warmth wisdom and respect; leaving more food \ drinks in the house than there was before if i happen to be a guest in some faraway land; learning what I can and teaching what I know with a smile :D

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I started Couchsurfing through this website in Europe, August '09.. signed up one night, needed a couch & found one that night in Den Haag, Netherlands from a super welcoming Colombian lady.

From there I took to the road and hitchhiked\couchsurfed sometime with the drivers who picked me up.. went around Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, France, Andorra, Spain, Finland, Estonia (Tallinn), Hungary, and around Paris in France for New Years eve. From there went back through Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai in China, and Japan coushsurfing (sometimes on CS, sometimes not) all the way before returning home to Perth.

The journey continues. I can host every now and then, I get to meetings sometimes when I'm traveling. Always fun

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have enjoyed hosting a few times at the house in Perth, Australia. Hosted once at the semi-completed out of town house (nearing completion as I write this). I plan to host more when I buy a house for myself.

Over in Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and so many other places I have visited before signing up to the CS website; people have offered me couches to surf on.. just great people I met on the street or in a bar.

For me, its always so much more enjoyable to be staying with a local, even if they're busy and have to work.. i have always found plenty of things to do, and had a more genuine experience while visiting their city.. staying with locals is the best

Music, Movies, and Books

Brazilian music and other latin american music are my favorites to listen to. I enjoy music in Portuguese and Spanish, easier for me to understand than music in english!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

randomly meeting a good friend from Sydney that i couch-surfed with in '00 while checking into a hostel in Barcelona in '01

going for a swim at night at the cinque terra coast in italy after a bottle of wine to make the coldness not so bad

drinking little glasses of beer with chinese locals in beijing, not understanding what they were saying but communication becoming easier after more beer

looking up at the night sky full of stars, galaxies, planets while in the great sandy desert, middle of nowhere in australia

watching desert storm and the lightning illuminate the sky out in the great sandy desert, australia

hang-gliding over the beach in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The views were memorable, as was the company..

hiking through villages in the swiss alps

hitchhiking all through europe.. in the snow and darkness in Finland; trying it in Japan and getting 300kms after many hours that day & into the night waiting by the side of the road..

surfing some epic waves in some of the best spots in Australia, and Brazil..

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach about the places i have visited and stayed there long enough to relate many experiences. Also have a lot of recipes.. i like cooking. In Australia i started a business so can maybe give some business tips and ideas; studied and worked as an actor - expressing myself in that way has been great so far. Experienced with languages and always keen to learn more
