About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To relocate from Oakland CA to Brooklyn NY

ABOUT ME

I am a modern dancer in flux, planning to move to NY; probably Brooklyn area. I am a newly certified Phlebotomy Technician (I can draw your blood), yet to be employed, and a massage therapist. I work at Nomad Cafe in North Oakland serving lots of coffee, bagels, and the best latte art I can manage. Although I enjoy the occasional yerba matte, I am a coffee addict at heart. My primary means of transportation is my lovely blue bike; which I have become severely attached to over the last couple years. Other things I'm into: yoga, photography (I recently excavated my 35mm from storage), free-piles, Argentine tango, Blue Bottle coffee, cats, goats (my neighbors have three; yes, I live in oakland).

PHILOSOPHY

The cynicism you think you have is not your true self.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am joining this community now, in the hopes of connecting with new friends in NY when I move there on Nov. 1st. And while I'm still in the Bay, although I'll be crashing with friends, I'd love to meet for coffee!

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: I have a friend that would always say after a bad movie: "That was two hours of my life that I will never get back". I'm pretty much the opposite of that; I can enjoy just about any movie as long as it doesn't scare the shit out of me. Some movies I have particularly enjoyed: Batman Returns (how can you not love Catwoman?), Pulp Fiction, The Royal Tenenbaums, Lost in Translation.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lived in the Bay Area. Although I'm about to leave this community, I have to say that it has been an amazing experience. The community here is always buzzing with activity, converging at local events like the farmers market, street fairs, fundraisers, cafes, parks. The emphasis is on education and everything local. The beautiful weather is a bonus. The bay area has taught me a lot about enjoying life.

Teach, Learn, Share

Share: Although I don't have the one thousand hours of training required to practice in New York, I am a certified massage therapist. Massage is a great skill for trading for other services. I'd be happy to share my skills. Although I'm not a yoga guru, I can provide motivation for attending class!
