About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To explore and research the couches of europe, and then the world.

ABOUT ME

I’m 25 years old. I lived in Washington State in the US. I graduated from college last year in the summer. I have since got a job at an all-organic and fair trade grocery store called the Food Coop. I am in Spain tutoring English in a town called Arahal. I am fascinated with music, cinema, and food. I will try anything. I love live music (any music: metal, punk, hardcore, jazz, folk, pop, rock, hip hop, I enjoy a lot of music and being outside (hiking, exploring, night-life adventures, museums, libraries, restaurants). I am up for anything including dancing, even though I am not very good at it, and I will eat mostly everything as long as it’s not McDonalds or Burger King or other corporate food distributors.

PHILOSOPHY

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the Universe is for and why it is here, it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more bizarre and inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened. - Douglas Adams

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new to this community so I haven’t done much to help build it. However, I grew up with the mentality of hospitality. I have friends, friends of friends, and family members stay at my place whenever they need a roof over their heads. The only thing I ask of them is to be respectful of my home. A guest never inconveniences me. However, I am more on the surfing side of life at the moment, but I carry those same values with me. I always clean up after myself, and make sure I am not imposing in anyway at all. I do my best to share the few things that I have including music, books, discussions, food, and if there is any chores or to-do's to be done, I am more than happy to help with whatever project around the house of my host. I love having conversations on everything. Learning new things, book and music recommendations are stupendous. But I also wouldn’t want that my host feel obliged to entertain me the entire time I was in their home. I feel perfectly comfortable reading a book or walking through a city by myself (hopefully with some tips so I don’t get too lost).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I used to live in Bellingham, WA right in between Seattle and Vancouver, BC. I go travel to both cities a lot to see a concert or an exhibit or just to have a fun time and see a friend. Many of the Greyhounds (bus system) have awkward timing, so it’s hard to get a full day of exploring without staying the night. So usually I crash on a couch somewhere. It’s easy and fun. I love sleeping on couches. I don’t have any crazy experiences from doing this, but I always take advantage of the area and get up and look for some local markets to go get some breakfast to bring home for my hosts. I just like waking up in a different city and exploring.

Interests

I graduated with the 2 majors from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. I went to an alternative college where you design your own major, which became: “Global Studies, Cultural Competency, and Latin America.” My other major was Spanish. I love learning. I love diving into history (national, global, and personal) of any one person. I love talking to people about whatever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived with a family in Nicaragua for 5 months while on a study abroad. That was one of the most amazing times I have ever had. I have made many contacts down there and became part of the family. If there is one thing I have learned from life it’s that: “You don’t have to be blood to be family.”

Teach, Learn, Share

I think this comes about in conversation. With an open mind, there is always something to learn.
