PHILOSOPHY
Fill with mingled cream and amber
I will drain that glass again.
Such hilarious visions clamber
Through the chambers of my brain.
Quaintest thoughts--queerest fancies,
come to life and fade away:
What care I how time advances?
I am drinking ale today.
Edgar Allan Poe
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I joined couchsurfing because I enjoy nothing more than surrounding myself with people from all over the world. This is also exactly why I live in New York City! I have couchsurfed in Brasil, and have hosted in Brooklyn surfers from Germany, Australia, New Zealand, and Norway. I am not currently hosting because my roomate and I now have a friend from Germany living with us.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
spent a year in la France, sailed the Mediterranean, stole a raft and stranded myself in the middle of the Seine River on Halloween night, swam with sea turtles in Belize, played with monkeys in Marrakech, broke my nose in Brasil, got tattooed by a world-famous artist in Paris, witnessed an entire night of lightning storms from a plane over the Amazon, learned to drive in a '73 Monte Carlo, saw Tom Jones perform at the Fresno Fair when I was probably 7, dj'd one night in Panamá, accidentally kissed a bum one night in NYC, taught English to computer nerds in Paris, bartended for a night in Morocco, saw the Passion Play in Oberammergau Germany in 2010, got lost for hours in Brussels during the nuit blanche, puked all over the train station in Amsterdam, survived driving the Highway to Heaven in Costa Rica, once got myself thrown into a freezing pool in the middle of February with my clothes on, once emerged from the pit at NOFX bleeding from the ear (notice they are NOT on my favorite band list!), raised baby chickens in my bathtub in Clovis, lived in a teepee on my aunt's indian reservation near Reno, also helped build a sweatlodge at the reservation, experienced the wonders of a nude beach in Italy, watched the most magical meteor showers one night while camping in California, got a hand-written letter from Kathleen Hanna when I was 16, experienced the sensational festivities of a pre-Carnaval party in Olinda-Brasil, let a very friendly snake sleep wrapped around my belly everyday in high school, once had a pet black widow that I kept in a jar and fed flies, got absolutely accosted along las Ramblas in Barcelona on New Year's eve, galloped horseback along the shores of República Dominicana, flew in a helicopter over Rio de Janeiro, saw Bob Dylan perform, tried to get drunk on non-alcoholic beer when i was 14, ate chickens feet and seahorse soup with my 'adoptive' chinese family, chased a black bear into the woods with a frying pan, went to my best friend's 1920s wedding in Menorca, drove my Dodge Dart along the sand of Capitola beach in Santa Cruz, wandered through a favela in Rio where i saw 17 year olds toting guns and selling crack, once cried for a week straight, swam out past the breakers in the Pacific when I was 8 years old, herded cattle in the Sierra Nevadas, gathered dirt from Kurt Cobain's house in Seattle, gathered sea glass from the Adriatic sea, got myself thrown off a motorcycle in downtown Manhattan, watched the sunrise from atop my roof in Brooklyn.
