ABOUT ME
I finished my studies at the same time as my one year older brother - so we took the chance for a big bicycle trip eastwards. We thought about heading to India, but since Pakistan refused to give us visas we changed plans several times and for now ended up in Oman, looking forward to where the road will lead us...
PHILOSOPHY
If you don't know where you're going, any road will take you there...
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I heard about CS from friends - it sounded like a wonderful idea and a fine opportunity to get to know nice people.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Some years ago I biked from Germany to Istanbul with my brother - we both were quite messed up, when we reached Budapest in Hungary. It rained, I had an accident in the mud, it was late and became dark. Until then we always camped somewhere at the road, what didn't seem possible in the city and there was neither a campingsite nor an affordable hotel around, that would have let us in.
We asked some people, if they knew a place to stay, but most of them didn't really seem to understand us or just didn't know any place - until we encountered a young couple, who were on the way to a friend just came back to us and invited us to their friends house. He turned out to be a musician and didn't mind us being all wet and full of dirt - so in the end we stayed 3 nights at his place, having a wonderful opportunity to recuperate and getting to know both the city and great people.
Other than that I got invited a lot by incredibly friendly, hospitable and polite people especially in Turkey and Iran - not via CS, though, but just 'randomly' on the street.
Interests
I like to ride my bike, I did some climbing (unfortunately never becoming really good, though), I love to listen to music (especially blues and jazz), reading and of course, traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've heard a lot of really old blues music, tried to get a little bit into jazz, sometimes enjoy reggae - Dylan, Hendrix, Odetta, Nina Simone, Towns vanZandt, Radiohead, Nick Cave and so on and so forth.
I loved Arthur Koestler's autobiography, that called my attention to some really good books about the Spanish Civil War (like the short summer of anarchy from H.M. Enzensberger); I like the russian guys and so on
