About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am currently planning a longer bikepacking trip through New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand.

ABOUT ME

Born in a cozy town on the countryside, I grew up close to forests, decent hills and beautiful lakes. Some people may say that I'm a kind of Redneck because of my background ;) I love the nature, to spend my time outdoors and to enjoy the silence. This doesn't mean that I don't like to party. There's nothing about a wild party with loud music and cold beers. l often hang around with friends, sometimes just to laugh about funny stories and jokes. I'm open minded, communicative and always easy going. I like to have people around me and to be involved in projects. I'm spontaneous, active, adventurous and always in for crazy things.

I try to travel as much as I can, to broaden my own horizon and to make the best of my time on earth.

PHILOSOPHY

I always try to make the impossible coming true. Unfortunately not always that successful as it should be ;-)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I like the idea of connecting people with the same attitude of travelling! Couchsurfing offers a new way to travel around the world and to learn more about people and their lifestyle in a foreign country. Besides that, it’s just nice to exchange travel experience and stories among people with the same philosophy of traveling.

That's exactly what I'm looking for... So, that's why I'm a member :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, I met a few active CS-people and spent a really interesting time with them. But I didn't had the pleasure yet to host or to be hosted by somebody.

Interests

I'm interested in discovering foreign countries and to travel around the world. I like to be outdoors doing different kind of sports, especially hiking, biking, running or skating and canoeing. During the winter I play floorball in a local sportsclub. I love to go to concerts and big music festivals and enjoy to hang around with friends in the evenings.

I adore night-long discussions with friends and travel mates, sharing a good bottle of wine or a few beers.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like Tarantino-movies, Guy Ritchie, Pedro Almodovar and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. Furthermore: Blow, Into the Wild, The Kite Runner, Blood Diamond, Babel, Sin Nombre, Mar Adentro. Of course I also watch movies like Hangover, Eurotrip and some more...

My favourite bands are: Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Wolfmother, Kings of Leon, Soundgarden, RATM, Muse, Oasis, White Lies, Franz Ferdinand, RHCP, U2, Mana, Manu Chao, Bob Marley, Damian Marley, Cypress Hill, Beastie Boys, Delinquent Habits, Orishas, Jovanotti, some Swiss Acts (Patent Ochsner, Zueri West, Stress & Liricas Analas) and a lot more.

I really like John Krakauer's book "Into Thin Air", Paolo Coelho's "The Alchemist", Friedrich Duerrenmatt and Max Frisch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took a time-out from my job and my studies in 2011 and went to Latin America, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Mongolia and a few other countries for more than a year. During my gap year, I learned a lot about myself and about other countries and met a lot of fantastic people. A trip like this means tons of good moments, night long discussions with interesting people, discovering new flavours and watching the stars somewhere out in the steppe.

Teach, Learn, Share

I recently moved to a new flat which I'm now sharing with to friends. The apartment is big enough to host travelers for a night or two and to share awesome travel stories while drinking some wine and beer. My flatmates and I even can show how to cook some traditional swiss dishes like Roesti or Fondue (as one of my flatmates formerly used to be a chef) or teach Swiss German. However there are a couple of different dialects all over Switzerland. Some are quite difficult to understand, even for us as a native speakers... :-)
