About Me

Recently moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry. Still pursuing...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I learned about Couchsurfing from a fellow traveler while we were both staying in a hostel in San Miguel De Allende in Mexico. I loved the idea and ended up staying with a charming family in Venezuela a short time later.

I have a great appreciation and admiration for the Couchsurfing community. I've met some of the most interesting and intelligent people through this community and hope to continue to meet people from my new home city - Los Angeles, CA.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a deep passion for movies. Every decade has produced brilliant works and I'm constantly discovering (new to me) brilliant movies. These are some of my favorite: City Lights, Children of Paradise, The Third Man, Vertigo, Chungking Express, Three Colors (Red, White, Blue), - I'll stop there. I could literally list 100 "favorite" movies.

Books: I mostly read "Classic Literature" but have branched out to non-fiction recently. Some of my favorite books include Catch-22, Siddhartha, and anything by Albert Camus.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I joined the U.S. Marine Corps at 18 and was enlisted as an infantryman for four years. It was a strange and, at times, chaotic experience. I could never relate to the military culture but I feel fortunate to have gone through that experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have traveled through most of Latin America and speak Spanish fluently so I could offer some words of wisdom for anyone wanting to travel through Latin America. I also know California fairly well since I've lived in the Bay Area for most of my life and have recently moved to Los Angeles.

My areas of studies include Cinema Studies and Business so I can pass on knowledge of these subjects.

I would love to learn how to speak Chinese and improve my French and Italian.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I feel it's my duty to leave the accommodation in a better condition than when I started to stay there. I would be happy to wash dishes, clean up, or help with any task around the house.

I also would like to shake off the "American" stereotype that is prevalent in so many countries. The policies of the U.S. Government do not reflect the character of its citizens. The U.S. is a large country that is home to immigrants from all over the world. Contrasting political and cultural opinions are only natural for a country that has attracted so many people from every corner of the world. The U.S. has admirable qualities as well as a dark past (and present) but I like to focus on the future and the willingness to make progress.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Belgium, Belize, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, France, Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, Thailand, Uruguay, Venezuela

Countries I’ve Lived In
