About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Im looking to meet cool people all over the world. taste new places, listen to music in every culture and subculure I can find, eat lasagna in every city in Italy, eat tacos at every roach coach in LA

ABOUT ME

I'm a student, musician and wanderer who just graduated from University and am traveling through South America. At UCLA I studied american literature and culture, but my primary interests outside of the books is in music (I'm a jazz drummer and world music percussionist) and the living the good life by the sea. I play in several bands on and off in LA and would love to continue that, and I hope to find work in the future abroad continuing to work as SUBA instructor, writing, or god knows what.

PHILOSOPHY

While I'm young I gotta keep moving, the the further a place takes you from your comfort level, the more likely you are to meet facinating, driven people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I currently have no couch to share in Spain, but I would like to share my experiences here with other people in Spain or Europe while I travel, and then I can offer a couch in LA when I return this winter.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with couch surfers that I met through other means and I hoping to make Couch Surfing a regular part of my travels solo in S. America.

Interests

Music (Salsa, Samba, Jazz, Rock, Hip-Hop... all over the map)
Diving, sailing, playing in the water
Literature (Thomas Pynchon, Roberto Bolano, David Foster Wallace, Vladmir Nabokov)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: A Tribe Called Quest, Danger Doom, David Bowie, Sly and the Family Stone, Radiohead, Os Mutntes, Grupo Niche, Freddie Hubbard, Ornette Coleman...
Films: The Life Aquatic, Pulp Fiction, The Big Lebowski
Books: Gravity's Rainbow, The Last Known Residence of Mickey Acuna, Invisible Man, Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man, Lolita, Infinite Jest

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen Sea Lions hunting off the coast of California, diving from the surface down to 130 feet, shooting down canyons to kill fish as they swarm... but I;d like to see a lot more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to practice english or spanish with a host, cook for them, or teach them to play the drums. (I'll hopefully have more to teach in the future). And I'd love to learn about new ways to cook, near areas, and about new cultures.
