About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To keep things interesting and to never be content!

ABOUT ME

I'm a fairly laid back person with a wide variety of interests. I really enjoy trying new things and having new experiences. Some would say that I am a hard worker but I think I'm fairly lazy, or efficient I suppose. I like being around people who seem smarter than me because they challenge me and keep me sharp. I feel that I have a very versatile personality because I love to act immature and party like I'm still in college but I also feel comfortable in a more formal setting. I find that I often have to remind myself of the impermanence of everything in life and I try to make my decisions with that in mind.

PHILOSOPHY

I always like to learn new things and I like to try to do everything in an inexpensive way. Or I like to try and save money on travel and lodging so that I can spend more on having fun while I travel. I used to intentionally buying broken things (cars, motorcycles, trucks, bicycles, power tools, computers, etc.) just so I can teach myself to fix them. It also works well because I can get some things at a discount price just buy putting in some work. Seems like I have less and less time to do that anymore though but I still fix my own cars and work on my house a lot.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted several times and I've only had good experiences. I've also met several very cool people hosting and during some travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well a recent story is that my roommate and I took a couch surfer from Germany to the Kentucky State fair and then we taught her how to play beer pong (or Beirut, depending on where you are from) and grilled out for her, giving her the most stereotypical US experience that we could, haha! We all had a great time with it and it was funny to see her reaction to the fair food like the deep fried hot brown and the cheeseburger on 2 donuts!

Interests

I love cooking, brewing beer and wine, riding motorcycles, fixing cars and motorcycles, all kinds of sports, building things with wood or metal, riding my bicycle, especially to the bars in the summer. I'm always up for trying new things. I like to read, especially about philosophy, science and religious history. I've been skydiving but I'd love to do bungee jumping and hang gliding or anything else. I spend most of my down time hanging out with friends and trying to find fun things to do.

Music, Movies, and Books

My music interests are always changing it seems. I really like live music of any kind and I like going to a couple festivals each year. Some of my favorite books are Zen and the art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Shop Class as Soulcraft, Repacking Your Bags, The God Delusion, The Blind Watchmaker. I don't really have a favorite movie that I can think of, I like a lot of movies but I've never been the type of person to try and rewatch a movie I've already seen, except for some of the classics where it's fun to get a few people together to watch Spaceballs or Airplane or something like that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well in 2013 I got to spend a couple weeks traveling around Brazil and that was probably one of the most amazing trips I've ever taken.
