About Me

ABOUT ME

Tom makes things happen; he held an event called Sweet Talks in his homes over the years with people who travelled talking about their adventures and showing photos or slides. Over the course of four years he had over 800 people through his living room (30 to 50 at a time). HE drove a transit bus for over 20years, retired and wrote a book. He calls himself reFired and he is loving his reFIREment now since April Fool's day 2012 which is when he reFired himself to travel over 20,000 miles in his first three months since leaving the seat of the bus. He drove a Pub Party Bus while entertaining the passengers with his "instrument" panel. He has more energy than most 40 year olds even though he has been collecting his old age pension for over a year now. Now he is a motivational speaker travelling about inspiring anyone that works with the public to be energized, healthier and happier in their job and in their life. He is a character quick to laugh and has a razor wit to match the best. Generous to a fault he loves life and dives in with both eyes and heart wide open.

PHILOSOPHY

If you put into action my short simple Steps to the Art of Acknowledgment your life will be positively and forever enhanced. You will also touch the lives of every one you meet in profound ways.
www.tommytransit.com for details. I practiced this Art on my transit bus in Vancouver Canada for 10 years with over 1.5 million passengers and it changed a lot of lives, most importantly altered my life forever. It is simply to be nice, acknowledge people for who they are or how they look or for their attitude and send another ripple of kindness into the world. So easy and promotes loving energy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In 2013-14 Winter I went to Mexico then Toronto - London UK - India - Thailand - Cambodia - Bali - Japan - Hawaii (Oahu) and had wonderful couch surfing experiences in India and Oahu. This couch surfing is a wonderful Social Network of people loving to travel and meet others that travel or share traveler's experiences. It is a chance for the traveller to meet someone that lives locally and knows the area you are visiting. Also a chance for the host to travel "vicariously" through the stories the traveller can share. It seems to attract the best of people and friendships are formed quickly. It is an amazing way to travel. It goes far beyond the advantage of not spending a lot of money it is a unique opportunity to meet amazing folk. Check it out

Interests

I acknowledge everyone that comes within 5 feet of me, it is like breathing for me and it alters peoples' days, moods and in some cases their lives. I speak to schools to reduce the bullying with the students and teachers. Rollerblading and yoga keep me fit and I presently weigh about 12 pounds more than when I was on the championship high school basketball team.

Music, Movies, and Books

Don't spend a lot of time watching TV or movies - I know there is a lot of good stuff out there. I am just out in the world creating my own movies by meeting folks and reminding them every day is magic. I love many kinds of music - rap is an exception. Did you know that Canadian Rap is short formed to CRAP. Sorry if I offend, Love jazz, pop, swing, classical and rock & roll. Books - there are far too many to remember. The space is too small here. Love Wayne Dyer - Deepak Chopra - Brian Tracy - Denis Waitley - the Happiness Project with Gretchen Rubin - ""Body" the Greatest Gadget by Sadhguru (I toured his ashram/temples in southern India - Isha Foundation - Think and Grow Rich was a favorite and How to Win Friends and INfluence People is a classic.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Machu Pichu in Peru
the Embera Village in the jungles of Panama
I create enough magic in my daily interaction with others that I could fill another book with stories of my adventures. A man I went to High School with 42 years ago showed up on the tiny island where I drove a party bus. We were best friends in school and built a kayak together and now he has a 50 foot power boat. Somethings change for the better. Life is rich and rewarding. 2014 the incredible temples all over Ankor Wat in Cambodia - the Isha ashram near Polachi India - Bali.. all over Bali and the Gili Islands.. spectacular culture of respect, honor and blessing. Bali is the land of a million temples - on every person's property as well as large Monkey Temple and dozens of others unique and profound buildings scattered all over the country. Japan a Buddhist Temple in Narita circa 940 AD.. Did you know that wood lasts that long. Wonderful carvings and structures of intense beauty and workmanship. Hawaii climbing Diamond Head and snorkeling all over the island - new world under water.

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy my own company and that of my partner, the people we meet on couch surfing are quite remarkable. Beyond that I love Byron Katie, Ester Hick (Abraham Hicks), recently met Hugh Laurie from the TV show "House" (amazing piano man). Locally in Vancouver Canada is Jeffery Armstrong with the Vedic Arts - a personal friend and mentor.
