About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become citizens of the world

ABOUT ME

We're a laid back but adventurous couple who would love to meet you!

Brad is the observant, realist type and Chels - the free spirited optimist! We've both been called hippies, and in a lot of ways we share the sentiments of free love and self expression. But our aim is to be as well rounded as possible.

We love festivals/celebrations and seeing how people from different parts of the world throw down! Eating local and mixing it up with the natives is one of our favorite ways to experience this travel thing.

Chels was born in the land down under - Perth to be exact but moved to Atlanta GA when she was 7.
Brad's roots are planted in Boston MA.
We met at the University of Georgia where we bonded over a love for the Red Sox and both graduated in 2009 (Chels: Public Relation; Brad: Business Management).

Shortly after graduating we took a few months to loosly plan and finish saving; then hit the road April 2010 and began a different type of education, soaking up as much knowledge and experience as we could!

Our desire to see the world has developed into a full blown passion since we began this trip. Having spent 6 months in Europe, a two week tour of India (not nearly long enough), a month plus in Southeast Asia, a year long working holiday in Australia (and her territories), a short stint in Hawaii and San Diego; then three months in Central and South America, cruising through the Panama Canal to finish an epic, TWO YEARS around the world!!!

PHILOSOPHY

There are very few absolutes in life as there is always two sides to every happening. Approach with an open heart And open mind.

Live free. Love. Enjoy life!

We'd love to discuss further over some shisha~!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We participate by being great ambassadors to the CS project. We tell anyone who will listen about the amazing experiences, people and places we have enjoyed because of this wonderful social hub!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Our first time was in Istanbul a quarter of the way into our European leg and we never looked back!

We are avid supporters and promoters of the project since it has been such an important part of our travels. It's the best thing to happen to travelers since the backpack!

Interests

We both love music and going to music festivals - Rothbury has been the favorite so far!

Chatting about social issues; learning from people and exchanging positive energy.

We enjoy outdoor activities; skiing, hiking, surfing.. We're game for just about anything really!

Trying different foods - including wines, beers and coffee from around the world! (And Chocolate!!)

We love learning about different cultures and traditions which is one of the main reasons we're traveling!

Music, Movies, and Books

LOVE music! Most any Live music is great! Jam bands, Jazz, Electronica, Chill out/Ambiance, Reggae...we're open to a lot and down for exchanges!

Thievery Corporation, John Butler Trio, Cafe del Mar, Rebelution, STS9, Pretty Lights, Shpongle, Dave Matthews, Xavier Rudd, Beautiful Girls, Diego Roots, Led Zeppelin, Allman Brothers, Tom Petty, Eric Clapton, Big Gigantic, Dispatch, Groove Armada, Michael Franti, Donovan Frankenreiter, The Doors, Breaking Benjamin...the list goes on!!

Love Coffee Table books :) - especially ones dealing with travel! OR Non-Fiction and Autobiographies - usually the best stories are the true ones! Right now we are reading whatever books we can find in the book swaps at hostels...so most are quite random, but we have enjoyed them all!

Love documentaries!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We had our first dumpster diving experience with a couchsurfer in Vienna! We meditated on top of a mountain in Switzerland!Watched the sun rise over the most sacred river in India!Bathed with Elephants in Thailand!Climber the Stairway to Heaven and jumped out of a plane in Oahu!

Started hiking a volcano at 2:30 in the morning to make it up just in time to watch the sun light up Lago de Atitlan and the backdrop of two more volcanoes!

After officially becoming PADI open water certified scuba divers, our boat stumbled onto a pod of wild dolphins which we swam and played with!

Boarded down an active volcano in Nicaragua!

Been traveling for almost 2 years and seen so much.. you can read about some of the adventures we've had in our blog: driftingduo.com but we'd prefer to tell you about them in person!
