ABOUT ME

To quote Bukowski I feel like I've spent the last ten years or so as a confused old man driving in the rain wondering where the good luck went. I have loved. I have lost. I have learned more from my three young sons in casual conversation than I ever learned from a professor in serious lecture. I cannot remember the last time I took myself seriously, maybe my childhood. Ha. I want to watch the bullfights. I want to make new friends. I like giants.

PHILOSOPHY

It's from the Harold and Kumar movie where the abused black dude in jail is trying to comfort Harold, "There is no sense getting all riled up every time a bunch of idiots give you a hard time. The universe tends to unfold as it should."

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to offer my home in the spirit of friendship and hopefully be offered the same kind of courtesy. I want to reach out to younger folks and remind them that every day is a gift and there really isn't anything more important than family, friends, and a warm smile.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I was couch-surfing long before it became internet-acessible. Back in the day we just called it being broke, couch crashing, or you'd have to fake passing out at a relative's house and then raid the fridge and leave early the next morning.

Interessen

I enjoy my children, seems like when it comes down to it they are the most reasonable folks I know. I never really traveled as a child and I don't want my children to miss out on that kind of bewildering wanderlust. I like to read. I really like uncomfortable comedy. I like to people watch. I like to watch old movies that people tend to forget were really progressive for their time.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

I have read most of the classics and have appropriately aged to the point I should read them again. I love to watch movies. I love music, both kinds: country and western. Ha.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

I went to the North Pole on a submarine when I was in the Navy. I have watched my three sons come into the world. I have watched friends come and go. I have watched myself age. I have escaped a DUI car crash and survived a divorce that at one point I thought would kill me.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Calm down. Breathe. Looking back on the times in my life where I stressed and self-destructed I realize none of it was nearly worth the trouble I put myself through because of it. Reach out to your family and friends. Some folks want to help you so bad they cannot stand it and asking for help is the only nudge they need.
