About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To conquer the world.

ABOUT ME

Hello everyone, I'm Mathias!

I had an amazing youth.. I still do! I grew up with 2 brothers, as the middle child you have a great view over all the things you have done and all the things you have coming at ya! I've always loved sports, I was sporting everyday! "from dusk till dawn" :D The only problem was that I had way to many hobbies. ( from al sorts of instruments to reading certain books to practicing different sports )In other words, I had a hard time focussing on 1 thing.

After my highschool graduation I went to France where I met a guy, a rockclimber! It was one of the few sports I hadn't yet practiced so I descided to come along. The first 5 seconds I was up that rock I knew it!! "This is what I've been craving for!" The freedom, being away from everything: away from the world, away from your toughts, just being in state, being out there. My motivation to get better grew by day, so I did get better at it, a lot faster then the avarage person would. Soon I was asked to teach it in my local climbing gym in Belgium. The feeling I got from teaching people, uniting my passion, was "a w e s o m e" and what I love to do, I do good.

While I was studying at the university of Ghent (Belgium) to obtain my engineerings degree, I went gliding. (Flying a plane without engines and using thermal to gain altitude). My 1st solo flights were a unique experience, I remember suddenly starting to laugh my ass of in the cockpit, I had all this tention bottled up *I'm alone in a plane, and I'm flying it!* so it made me laugh till I cried. This experience said it all. I immediatly quit university and went to Holland to attend one of the hardest acceptance exams around the globe at the KLM flight Acadamy. After 7 months of studying, making exams and doing medical tests, I PASSED! I was one of the lucky few.
BUT KABAM, the economical crisis struck and threw my plans into the water, the KLM postponed my pilot training 1 and a half years!! So I sat at home, "what the hell can I do now.. work? Pfff..."

I descided to travel, I didn't care whether I was broke or not. If you can walk, you'll end up somewhere.
When I was in Greece, someone told me about this site.
SO I got really interested & decided to give it a shot.

Now, after a few years I can honestly say that it has made the way I like to travel much easier. In my travels I've always enjoyed meeting locals & tried staying away from the touristic places as much as possible because I like to enjoy the local culture instead of the Clichés. Couchsurfing made this possible!

I've met the sweetest and prettiest people (smart, goofy and funny!) in the world during my travels and I hope to continue this couchsurfing experience.

If you need a couch in Belgium, let me now!

Peace! If you want more information. Ask me, kidnap me, what ever works is fine.

Bai bai :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Well once I was skydiving and my chute didn't open, I was falling at massive speed, i tought "this is it man", the ground was coming closer, 500 feet, 200 feet, 50 feet, BAM!!!, I landed right on a couch, silky smooth. Couchsurfing safed my life! I'm 100% serious.

Music, Movies, and Books

Filosophy, Psychology ( Psycho-Cybernetics ), ...
I love movies, 7 pound, groundhog day, those types of movies, they always hitchhike my mind. I see about 1 movie a day, and have over 3000 on my hardrive now. Yes I have no life!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't put this on paper. Sometimes you can experience a morning so clear, the air so fresh, birds humming all around you. And sometimes you.. well.. euhmm, .dont.

An amazing moment is what you make of with your mind. For some it's the amazing tackle at highschool, for others it's being pain free for a day. For me it's having the potential to grow as a person by meeting other people. Life is one big school, and it's GOOOOD :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you how to beatbox! Been doing it my whole life! Bmmm bmmm pshhhh.

The gift of being free of worries, no matter what happens. As Long as you & your family members are healthy, you have NO BIG PROBLEMS what so ever!
