CURRENT MISSION

To travel North America visiting and learning from social/environmental innovators to better form the vision for my personal projects here in Toronto. I want to create a fully sustainable living/work space for artists, activists and urban farmers.

ABOUT ME

I run an environmentally focused artist collective (www.aboutfacecollective.com) here in the city of Toronto, Canada with which I am trying to purchase a historical building in the downtown core, sustainably retrofit it and use it as community art space, urban organic gardening and cafe space, and various other entreprenuerial ventures.

I am looking to travel to various locations in the U.S and Canada and abroad to learn from other social innovators about how they achieved their goals on similar projects to mine, with the hopes of being inspired and better prepared to take on the challenges of such a venture.

I also want to take more time to write, read, think, research and explore. Sometimes living in one place too long makes one lethargic, even those who are creative and excited about life can often get into ruts.

I've been working hard for the past year to save up and am now ready to explore and pursue my real passions!

I hope to find people interested in being a part of my journey!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a surfer mostly, but I would love to meet up with travellers for a lovely dinner in my community house, or for a night on the town at the various queer-focused events I attend frequently!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My favourite couch surfing experience thusfar was staying at the couch surfing headquarters in San Fran. The hospitality I received there was truly inspiring, and I would like to offer the same open-hearted welcome to anyone passing my way!

I have had some negative experiences as well, which makes me cautious and selective of who it is I bring into my life, but I believe most people are truly good and looking to be respectful hosts and guest!

I love children's stories, and hope to write one myself.

I enjoy music, books, poetry and movies that portray things that are simple but true. Everyday, commonplace but indescribably beautiful.

I sound serious but I still enjoy a Demetri Martin youtube video as much as the next mid-level college student.

I've planted a garden on the top of a mountain in a small town in Guatemala and watched black and grey storm clouds roll towards us from nearby mountaintops; we ran laughing all the way down the mountain, completely drenched, and showered under a drainpipe in the buildup of rainwater.

I am very involved in the urban farming movement here in Toronto, and work for nearly every community food-oriented group in some capacity. I run my own community garden and would love to share the knowledge that I've gained in this area with others.

I am also very involved in the queer community here in Toronto, and would love to share that experience with others as well!
