ABOUT ME
I am a 30 years old resident of neurology from Slovenia. I am an open minded, calm, peaceful, friendly person who like meeting new people (specially from different cultures), travelling, trying out new and undiscovered things, partying, dancing, playing or looking after kids... I am very sportive person and I like all kind of sports( specially running, cycling, swimming, hiking, skiing and all kind of adrenalin sports, specially diving and skydiving)... Currently I am more devote to running since I am preparing for the New York marathon I qualified on last year. Actually I just started with preparations after few months off due to my knee injury that I got in skytunnel during skydiving training. Last year I run The Authentic Athens marathon which was my child dream (and I was 28. out of 35 000 whic was a surprising result for me since i had not been training befor that, i just loved to run and i finnaly found time to get few days off and travel to Athens)! People say that I am very hyperactive person as I always do many things at the same time and am always running from one thing to another. But on the other hand I am phlegmatic person who don`t worry about things until the last moment and am quite spontaneous.I am a bit workaholic sometimes. I have been working on many volunteer public health project during whole 7 years of medical study, that fights against cardiovascular diseases, sexual transmitted diseases, drugs, smoking, project that motivate people for healthy life style... I have organized many social events for students in Slovenia, events for children to better spend their free time, I was also a student buddy to international students in Ljubljana occasionally ...Besides my study I was a researcher (area of neuro-cardio-physiology), have been spending lot of time during last years on it and besides medicine, I was taking some courses at the Faculty of sport. I trained athletic ( long distance running) when I was in high school and I am still in loved with running, cannot spend a day without it. I have been learning some foreign languages (Swedish, French and Spanish) and sign language (language for deft people). I have also been volunteering a lot in hospitals and assisting in all kind of surgery operations. But no matter of my occupations I am always up for parting if there is something good going on. I am used to share apartments with others. I am more like a night person, used to study or work at night and sleep in the morning, but am very flexible about that, have no real biorhythm, every day is different (I can also stand up at 6 or even earlier if I have to or sometimes don`t go to sleep at all and have no problems after that). I don`t smoke but it doesn´t bother me if people around me smoke (except that i advise against as i am actually in campaign that fights against smoking) . I was on Erasmus exchange for half a year 2009/2010 at Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Göteborg (Sweden), taking courses of family medicine and in the same time doing an research in the fields of genetic. While in Slovenia I occasionally worked for last few years as a surgeon assistant in different surgery departments in Novo mesto general hospital. 2011 I graduated and then went for 3 months on voluntary humanitarian medical expedition to Uganda where I worked in an outpatient clinic providing basic medical care for people. Next year I did similar work in Papua New Guinea, were with 3 friends of mine we run and worked in some referral provincial general and maternity hospital in Pimaga, Southeren Highlands. In between I finished my residency of a doctor and started specializing neurology and am currently eroled in 3th year. This year I am finishing my Phd thesis about new ultrasound paramethers and cerebral hemodynamic properties in patients with vascular dementia. Last few years were tough for me since I have been doing Phd in my free time, besides at least 10 hours (on avarage ) of daily work as a neurologist mostly at emergancy departments with changing tournuses... so more or less I was all the time on the our clinic ( besides 10-12 hours of working I was spending additional few hours on my phd research and studing),.. the only time for myself was 2 hours daily spend on running and a free weekend from time to time spend on running more (I train marathon) or on diving in Croatian sea or skydiving near my home town or different family and friends meeting.
PHILOSOPHY
Life begins at the end of your confort zone!
I like the life and would like to live it to the fullest, I know how short it can be and how suddenly can be finished so I want to take advantage of everyday the best as possible! I also want to grow as a person, to learn more, to experience more, to understand other people and culture more and help them somehow if possible! I would like to be proud on myself when I die ,with knowing that my live was not for nothing, that was worth to live it, that i have done sth that helped other people to live it better. I also like having feeling of being alive, so that is why i sometimes like taking a risk, like adrenalin, like sports, like to feel breathless and I do not prefer the easiest ways, as I think that the harder that the way is the stronger you become after dealing with it and more happy and proud at the end!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because I can meet open minded and great people from different part of the world, learn a lot from them and have a great times with them!
Because I dont like turictic traveling but prefer to experiance the places I travel troug by the lokals

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Living 3 months in some remote village-Pimaga in the jungle, Southeren highlands of Papua New Guinea, mostly without electricity and running water, without internet access and mobile phone in the time of elections were the place was consider as very dangerous and locals were afraid to walk around and if anything would happened noone would rescue us (we signed a contract saying we are aware of dangerous and they wont help us in case of political rivals). Running some small general and maternity hospital that was without doctors and in pretty bad sanitary condition with just little basic equipment and bad medicines supply...dealing with many problems, cases and diseases that are not known to the civilized developed world, worked as general doctor providing free basic medical care for locals in an outpatient clinic and part of the time in the hospital as an internist, infectolog, surgeon, paediatrician and obstetrician...the most stressful were baby deliveries and serious injuries ( some also because of political fights). But the place was amazingly beautiful, like paradise, very peaceful, diverse, green and completely nonturistic and people were very kind, friendly and generous!!!
