About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Digging deeper into photography while allowing Brazil to cultivate a new side of my musical voice while here. It's been 2 years almost and it's starting to break the surface of the soil.

ABOUT ME

Much of my traveling was from 2008-2013 while touring the globe with Cirque du Soleil. As a bassist/band leader, 45 countries with the show, throw in another couple of dozen on my own wandering (84 in total now) it was a wild ride. I had felt like it was time to "sit" on familiar soil for a while…but that thing too passed. ;)

Who I am? I'm the only child of husband and wife team of pop musicians that raised me on the road while playing in cover bands entertaining the butterfly collared, medallion wearing, gold lamee garbed masses of the disco age! Later I was bounced around the country by my TV News Announcing Father to Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Louisiana, Missouri, Illinois, back to Texas and again to Tennessee. So you could say travel is in my by "Blood" and so have learned much from everywhere I've been, good, bad, and in between.I've always tried to be open minded enough to realize when I'm not being open minded enough and catch myself just in time to grow from that moment. :P

PHILOSOPHY

Hmmm....lets see....I'll attempt the deep and profound! HAHA Each day is an opportunity to expand the heart and mind. Through feelings and introspection take the load off the ego so the that you can fully drop into each experience.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Making connections, sharing from my own experiences, perhaps showing some of the world of music to those curious about it. Also I enjoy helping people who want to learn the English Language.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Since 2009 CS has been a part of my life as I travel around the world. Whether crashing on someones couch while seeing their town/country, or working in their town and meeting for drinks and conversation, it's been a wonderful addition to my Universe. :)

I used to surf a lot back in the 90s while cutting my teeth as a musician with lots of different rock, jam, and jazz groups touring in the U.S. Luckily now someone else is footing the bill for my lodging usually. But when I'm on breaks from the tour I like to travel. I'll eventually be able to regularly return the favors. There are also opportunities in some of my hotel rooms to share bed space(gotta love these beds that split apart in Europe) or couches when I have them.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: In general I'm a sucker for fantasy/Sci-Fi stuff and anything else that tells a great story or makes me feel deeply and alter the way I look at things, some mainstream Hollywood stuff is OK but most is rubbish :), and tend to love foreign films...seems like whatever they are saying it's somehow more profound. HAHA

Music: Well as a musician I am listening to LOTS of different stuff at different times. But anything played from the heart is going to get my attention and put it on max rotation. Generally I'm listening to something with World Music flavors, Jazz, or rock/folk.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This was my 2010 Answer….I'll work on some more up to date thing soon.:)
Most recently I would have to say walking through a Favela in Northern Brazil...total life changer after meeting several of the people inside. My white beaugois (sp?) brain was forever zapped in the best possible way.

Otherwise...One night while working on cruise ships in the '90s we were sailing south down the inside passage in SE Alaska. While sitting in the crew hottub at the front of the ship, back to the bow, I could see both the northern lights and a meteor shower (Late July so either Perseod or Leonid...not sure) all the while hearing a pod of dolphins jumping off the side of the ship (we came to be able to hear the difference in this sound over that of the wake). CRAZY!
